Additionally, this is the only game this season that will be played on a Friday.

Packers vs. Eagles Preview

It may be early, but this game could mean a lot.

The Packers are a young, on-the-rise team looking to take the league by storm, and the Eagles are looking to settle down after a late-season collapse in 2023. This is a matchup of teams aiming to be top squads not just in the NFC, but in the entire NFL in 2024.

The Packers are led by second-year starting quarterback Jordan Love, who, in his first season as a full-time starter, threw for 30 touchdowns. Additionally, the Packers return a reliable offensive line and the same receiving group they had last year, except they have another year of experience.

The Packers added running back Josh Jacobs to replace Aaron Jones in free agency. Jacobs is coming off of a down season in which he had only 805 yards and six touchdowns, but just a year prior, he had an NFL-high 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns.

For the Eagles, their roster is as stacked as ever. In terms of returning talent, quarterback Jalen Hurts leads the way and he’ll still be throwing to A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.

The thing is, Philadelphia made one of the biggest splash signings in free agency this offseason when it brought in running back Saquon Barkley. The Eagles also traded for wide receiver Jahan Dotson just before the season began. Both are projected to start for Philly’s offense.

The Eagles also made sure to improve at their biggest need: cornerback.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Eagles took Quinyon Mitchell in the first round and Cooper DeJean in the second.

While Mitchell is slated to start in Week 1, DeJean will be on the bench. But it won’t take long for him to get on the field.

The Eagles also signed safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency.
