This was not how the Edmonton Oilers wanted things to go in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
They were dismantled by the Florida Panthers, dropping a 6-1 decision and now trail the best-of-seven series by a 2-1 margin. The Panthers were better in every facet of the game and imposed their will upon the Oilers early and often.
This loss is all the more disappointing for the Oilers, who feel they missed an opportunity to have taken a 2-0 stranglehold on the series in Game 2 but ultimately lost in double overtime.

One fan said, “I thought the Oilers were supposed to be a much more “mature” team this year.”

This fan called out the play of Edmonton’s top players, saying, “Mcdavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins were too quiet tonight. They slept when we needed them most. Game 4 the Oilers must show the Panthers what they can.”
Another fan directed his anger toward defenseman Jake Walman, saying, “Jake Walman is a total coward and disgraced himself and the Oiler team tonight. Numerous cheapshots throughout the game and then punching Tkachuk while he is tied up in third period… what a p****.”
This fan exclaimed, “Embarassing behaviour! Unfortunately they got totally outplayed and dominated today! Hard to see, how they will come back. Florida ist under their skin! I don‘t like it, but thats a fact!”

Panthers Now Lead The Stanley Cup Final 2-1
The Panthers didn’t let a potentially devastating game-tying goal from Corey Perry in the waning seconds of Game 2 phase them, as they eventually got the game-winning goal from veteran Brad Marchand in the second overtime.
Marchand’s goal knotted the series at one game apiece, leading into Monday’s Game 3 in Florida, and the Panthers delivered a show to their fans who packed Amerant Bank Arena from start to finish.
Game 4 between the Oilers and Panthers is scheduled for Thursday evening starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.
