The boxing world was left stunned Friday night after a wild heavyweight bout between Edwin Castillo and Viktor Jurk at SAP Arena in Germany. Although Jurk entered as the slight favorite with an unbeaten record, Castillo came into the fight with a respectable 13-3 record and eight knockouts of his own.
However, moments after the opening bell rang, Jurk landed a devastating punch that knocked Castillo out within seconds, drawing major reactions across the sports world, including from several NFL personalities.

Jurk, considered one of boxing’s fastest-rising prospects, showed exactly why many are so high on him Friday night.
As the fight began, Castillo appeared to move toward the center of the ring to touch gloves. Instead, Jurk caught him off guard with a thunderous left hand that immediately dropped the Colombian fighter to the canvas.
Castillo fell flat onto his back with his arms and legs stretched out, while the referee surprisingly continued the count.
“Unbelievable. Not sure why the referee is counting,” a commentator for DAZN said.
“It is all over inside a few seconds…I joked it could end in 30 seconds and it didn’t even last that.”
Like the commentators, the NFL world was equally stunned by the explosive finish, with Dez Bryant among those reacting online.
“Bruh😂,” the Dallas Cowboys legend posted on X.

Former NFL team doctor David J Chao questioned the ringside medical for being “slow to respond” as they checked out on Castillo nearly 15 seconds after he landed on the canvas, while the official account for the ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’ podcast wondered whether it might have been the fastest knockout in boxing history.

The official record for the fastest knockout in professional boxing belongs to Jimmy Thunder, who knocked out Crawford Grimsley in 1.5 seconds in 1977, while Mike Collins holds the amateur record at four seconds.
Jurk’s knockout appeared to come close to that amateur mark, although the official stoppage time was not immediately announced.
However, the bizarre nature of the finish led some viewers to question the legitimacy of the knockout.
“That should be investigated.. that’s the fakest knock out I’ve seen lol the way he fell was like if I was pretending a little kid knocked me out,” wrote sports commentator Jay B.

Although Castillo eventually stood for the official result announcement, the spotlight firmly shifted to Jurk afterward.
The towering 6-foot-9 heavyweight from Flensburg, Germany, continues to emerge as one of the most intriguing young contenders in the division, and now holds a clean 14-0 record with 12 knockouts.
