The Los Angeles Rams attempted to give their fans a gift on Thursday night. Instead, they handed the internet a punching bag.
At a season-ticket-member event at SoFi Stadium, the Rams unveiled two new alternate uniforms: “Classic Sol” and “Fearsome White.”
On paper, both sets sound like exactly what a fanbase would want. In practice, the reactions have been brutal.
Fans Voice Their Displeasure With the Rams’ New Uniforms
The “Fearsome White” set is a nod to the road uniforms worn by the legendary “Fearsome Foursome” defensive line of 1964-72. It pairs a royal blue helmet with white horns, a white jersey, and white pants with a thick blue stripe.
“Classic Sol” goes further back, honoring the 75th anniversary of the franchise’s 1951 NFL Championship team. It brings back the yellow jersey with royal blue numbers and Northwestern-style sleeve stripes.
Both sets add a helmet-front wordmark, continuing the design language the Rams introduced previously when they cleaned up their much-maligned primary uniforms.

The Rams spent this offseason making the uniform adjustments that critics asked for. They simplified the numbers and shelved the off-white jerseys, which have received poor feedback since their debut. Fans were, by most accounts, ready to give the new uniforms the benefit of the doubt.
Then the two alternates dropped, and the online backlash followed.
“They both ugly,” wrote a user on X.
Another added, “I can’t wait till they ditch the hideous yellow man.” One radio analyst said, “This might have made their SB chances worse.”

One fan said, “The worst uniform I’ve ever seen & a Colts cosplay.” Another added, “The throwback white is good, the yellow is hideous.”

The Rams will debut “Classic Sol” on Monday Night Football against the Giants on September 21. “Fearsome White” will get its on-field premiere against the Packers in the NFL’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game on November 25.
These reactions don’t necessarily mean the uniforms are doomed. NFL uniform reveals are notoriously bad predictors of long-term reception. If the Rams play well and meet their astronomically high expectations this season, nobody will care what they wear on the field.
