NFL Playoff Divisional Round Results: 49ers, Bengals, Eagles, Chiefs Clinch Conference Championship Spot

The 2022-2023 playoffs continued on Sunday -- let's look at the results and who will be playing in the AFC and NFC Conference Championship games.

The NFL Divisional Round playoffs got underway on Saturday, Jan. 21, and continued on Sunday. To kick off the weekend, we saw a tightly-contested Jaguars vs. Chiefs matchup with plenty of rollercoaster emotions, while the Giants vs. Eagles matchup was over as soon as it started. The action continued on Sunday with the Bengals vs. Bills showdown and the matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers.

Let’s look at the results from the Divisional Round and what that means regarding the 2022-2023 NFL playoff bracket.

    NFL Playoff Bracket

Here is the NFL playoff bracket, which was last updated following the 49ers’ victory over the Cowboys.

    NFL Playoffs Divisional Round Results

Kansas City Chiefs (27) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (20)

You may have come into this game thinking the Chiefs would blow out the Jaguars. That was not the case. Perhaps it was because Patrick Mahomes missed a decent portion of the first half. Maybe it was the Chiefs shaking off some rust after a bye week. Whatever it was, it didn’t matter in the end, as Kansas City came away victorious.

In the 27-20 victory, Mahomes threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns. TE Travis Kelce was the Chiefs’ leading receiver with 98 yards and two touchdowns. RB Isiah Pacheco added 95 yards on the ground. Backup QB Chad Henne also played an important role, leading the Chiefs on a 98-yard touchdown drive after Mahomes exited the game in the first half.

The Chiefs will now face the Bengals which will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

New York Giants (7) at Philadelphia Eagles (38)

This game wasn’t close…at all. The Eagles dominated in every phase of the game, and from their very first touchdown, they didn’t look back.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts didn’t have to carry the team on his back. Rather, he was efficient and made the plays where and when he needed to. He finished with 154 yards passing and two touchdowns.

The Eagles’ real work was done on the ground. RB Kenneth Gainewell rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, and Miles Sanders added another 90. Hurts had 34 yards rushing, and Boston Scott contributed with 32.

The Eagles will face the 49ers in the NFC Conference Championship Game.

Cincinnati Bengals (27) at Buffalo Bills (10)

Certainly, there were many who thought the Bengals could pull off the victory. But there may not have been many people who thought the Bengals could pull off the victory in the way they did.

Cincinnati was dominant in all three phases of the game, and once they scored to take the initial lead, they never looked back.

Bengals QB Joe Burrow threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns, and RB Joe Mixon led the team on the ground with 105 rushing yards and one touchdown. WR Ja’Marr Chase was the leading receiver with 61 receiving yards.

The Bengals will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in the AFC Conference Championship game next weekend.

Dallas Cowboys (12) at San Francisco 49ers (19)

It was a tightly-contested matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers, but in the end, the 49ers continued to defy all odds and advance to the Conference Championship game.

49ers QB Brock Purdy is now 7-0 in his last seven starts — something remarkable for any rookie, never mind the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He finished the game with 214 yards passing, while TE George Kittle pulled in 95 yards through the air. RB Elijah Mitchell was the leading rusher with 51 yards.

The 49ers will go to the NFC Conference Championship Game to square off against the Eagles.
