What are our free NFL picks and predictions for Week 4 as we try to unpack all of the action from last week and work out what was for real?

After a middling Week 3 against the spread, let’s bounce back strong in Week 4. For my fellow NFL betting degenerates out there, that means it’s time to get our Week 4 NFL picks and predictions in order. Let’s take a look at who I like to cover the spread in Week 4.

NFL Week 4 picks and predictions

Oddsmakers are extremely sharp when it comes to setting lines. With a week between games, they have ample time to fine-tune their numbers to get action on both sides. Let’s take a look at every Week 4 game and pick some winners against the spread.

All lines are from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of 2 PM ET on October 2.

Washington Football Team (-1.5) at Atlanta Falcons

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, FOX

The Falcons are fresh off their first win of the season on the road over the Giants. Now, they return home to take on Washington, which was decimated by the Bills in Week 3. This feels like a perfect storm of one team bouncing back and the other having a letdown.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Football Team 26, Falcons 24

Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills (-17)

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, CBS

The Bills looked very pedestrian in the first two weeks of the season before breaking out last week against Washington. 17 points is a massive number no matter how weak the opponent is. I just can’t lay that many.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Bills 30, Texans 17

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears (-3)

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, FOX

Over the first three weeks of the season, I would argue the Lions have looked better than the Bears. Who knows what Matt Nagy — virtually guaranteed to be the first head coach fired — will do at quarterback this week? It should be Justin Fields, but if Nagy isn’t going to let Fields run, he might as well use one of his two statues in Andy Dalton or Nick Foles.

With that being said, the Lions are this week’s dreaded public underdog play. It feels like everyone is on Detroit, so I’m obligated to go the other way.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Bears 26, Lions 19

Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys (-4)

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, FOX

We say running backs don’t matter, but it sure feels like Christian McCaffrey matters. That’s because McCaffrey is integral to the success of the Panthers’ aerial game as the best pass-catching back in the NFL. Without CMC and Jaycee Horn, I struggle to see how the Panthers can keep pace with the Cowboys’ offense.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Cowboys 31, Panthers 24

Indianapolis Colts at Miami Dolphins (-2.5)

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, CBS

These are two teams that are probably not going to the postseason. The Colts are ravaged by injuries, and the Dolphins lost their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. Both teams suffered hard-fought defeats last week. This one should be close, but I give the slight edge to the team with the better quarterback.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Colts 23, Dolphins 19

Cleveland Browns (-2) at Minnesota Vikings

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, CBS

I really don’t know what the Vikings have to do in order to get some respect. All this team does is score points. Sure, their defense couldn’t stop a high school squad, but the modern NFL is all about offense. This game has serious shootout potential, and I like Kirk Cousins to get it done once again as a home dog.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Vikings 27, Browns 24

New York Giants at New Orleans Saints (-7)

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, FOX

Every time I hear a stat about how the Giants have been the worst team in the NFL over the past several years, it brings a smile to my face. With that being said, Jameis Winston should not be a touchdown favorite over anyone. The Saints will probably win this game, but I like the Giants to keep it close.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Saints 20, Giants 16

Tennessee Titans (-6) at New York Jets

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, CBS

I hate laying big numbers on the road, but this Jets offense is a special kind of bad. They’ve scored 6 total points in their last two games. The skeptic in me feels like the Jets find a way to cover out of nowhere, but I just can’t pick them in good conscience.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Titans 27, Jets 10

Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at Philadelphia Eagles

Time and channel: 1 PM ET, CBS

Who had the Chiefs penciled in for two losses before the end of September? Yeah, me neither. I have a difficult time seeing Kansas City lose three straight. But we know how the NFL works — a team looks terrible one week and incredible the next. Jalen Hurts played poorly against the Cowboys in Week 3. He will be better this week, but I think we see angry Patrick Mahomes impose his will.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Chiefs 35, Eagles 24

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams (-4.5)

Time and channel: 4:05 PM ET, FOX

The Cardinals may be undefeated, but they easily could be 1-2 right now. This spread feels high for a division game between two teams that haven’t lost, but the Rams look like the much more sound club, and the Cardinals are due for a stinker.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Rams 34, Cardinals 24

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (-2.5)

Time and channel: 4:05 PM ET, FOX

The 49ers should have beaten the Packers last week when they scored a late fourth-quarter go-ahead touchdown. Unfortunately, just like Jesse when he raced Johnny Tran in The Fast and the Furious, it was “too soon, junior.”

San Francisco will now look to rebound at home against a Seahawks team that is also coming off a loss. I’m just not buying this 49ers team. I’m also secretly hoping a second consecutive loss sparks Kyle Shanahan to start Trey Lance.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Seahawks 27, 49ers 24

Baltimore Ravens (-1) at Denver Broncos

Time and channel: 4:25 PM ET, FOX

The Ravens needed an NFL record 66-yard field goal from Justin Tucker to beat the lowly Lions last week. Meanwhile, Teddy Bridgewater and the Broncos are coming off a bye week. Wait — what’s that? I’m being told the Broncos had a game last week. Apparently, there was, in fact, another team on the other side of the field.

These are both teams trending in positive directions, but one of them has to lose. The Ravens are coming off two games they probably should’ve lost while the Broncos have beaten the three worst teams in the NFL. Denver is about to learn what a real team looks like.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Ravens 24, Broncos 20

Pittsburgh Steelers at Green Bay Packers (-6.5)

Time and channel: 4:25 PM ET, CBS

This should be an easy Packers win. Pittsburgh’s offensive line can’t block anyone. Ben Roethlisberger is done. It just doesn’t compute as to how they will keep pace with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers — which is exactly why they will.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Packers 27, Steelers 23

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7) at New England Patriots

Time and channel: 8:20 PM ET, NBC

New England’s reward after an embarrassing loss against the Saints is their first-ever game against Tom Brady. Unfortunately, the Bucs also lost last week, which means in addition to vengeful Tom Brady, the Patriots have to deal with Angry Tom Brady. This is going to be a bloodbath.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Buccaneers 35, Patriots 14

Here are the Week 4 betting lines and NFL odds for Monday’s game as of 2 PM ET on October 1.

Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5)

Time and channel: 8:15 PM ET, ESPN

The Raiders have been one of this season’s biggest surprises. On the other side, Justin Herbert has done exactly what we expected of him — build upon his Rookie of the Year performance. This should be a fun divisional barnburner. I like the home team to win, but the road team to stay in it.

NFL Week 4 Picks and Predictions: Chargers 27, Raiders 24
