The 2024 Pro Bowl Games came and went, with the NFC winning the event 64-59. The result came with the NFC dominating the skills challenges, including the precision passing competition.
While the six Pro Bowl quarterbacks competed in the precision passing event, so did analyst Dan Orlovsky. While Orlovsky performed well, the showing wasn’t enough to make up for his NFL career, according to one NFL personality.
Dan Orlovsky Ripped by NFL Personality for Lackluster NFL Career
At the Pro Bowl Games, Orlovsky decided to participate in the precision passing event and give it a shot. He posted his results on X (formerly known as Twitter), captioning it “If Joe Flacco Can…” He ended up posting a score of 27, which was higher than any of the other Pro Bowl contestants.
Despite having the best performance in the event, Orlovsky still stayed humble. “These guys all are so so so much better than I ever was,” said Orlovsky on X. His score was followed up by C.J. Stroud (26), Baker Mayfield (24), Gardner Minshew (21), Geno Smith (20), Jalen Hurts (17) and Tua Tagovailoa (16).
However, NFL personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo did not give Orlovsky any credit. “He was a scrub in the NFL,” said Russo on ESPN’s First Take. “This does not make up for that!”

“Nobody cares, Steve,” said Russo. “I could do this. This is not that difficult. This is ridiculous.” Russo has been a member of the Radio Hall of Fame since 2022 and joined First Take the same year. “May be a HOFer but this is classless,” said Orlovsky on X in response.
Orlovsky spent 12 seasons in the NFL from 2005-2016. He played for the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was drafted by the Lions in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
In his career, Orlovsky played in 26 games, starting 12 of them. He passed for 3,132 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. With Orlovsky as the starting quarterback, teams went 2-10. His 12 starts included seven for Detroit and five for Indianapolis.
He is most well-known for the time he unintentionally ran out of the back of the end zone, taking a safety in 2008 against the Minnesota Vikings. Orlovsky and the Lions lost that game, 12-10, one in which he went 12 of 21 for 150 yards and one touchdown.
Orlovsky spent most of his career with the Lions, starting and ending it in Detroit. He was in Motown from 2005-2008 and 2014-2016, retiring in 2017. He joined ESPN as an analyst shortly following his retirement.
