NFL Insider Reveals Abdul Carter’s Bold Pre-Draft Plans

Most draft prospects who dream of playing in the NFL want to land as many top-30 visits as possible. Spending more time in front of decision-makers is a surefire way to increase some players’ draft stock.

But in a move that shows major confidence in his draft stock, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter is only scheduling top-30 visits with teams holding picks inside the top four of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Abdul Carter Looks Like a Lock for a Top-Five Selection

As the draft approaches, Carter appears to be a near-lock to hear his name called early. Along with Travis Hunter, he’s widely considered one of the best overall prospects in this year’s class. But with several quarterback-needy teams near the top of the board, both Carter and Hunter could slide slightly — though not too far.

Carter doesn’t seem to expect much of a slide. According to NFL insider Albert Breer, Carter is only meeting with the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and New England Patriots — the teams currently holding picks No. 1 through No. 4, respectively.

“Abdul Carter has 30 visits set up in the coming weeks with the Giants and Patriots, per sources,” Breer shared on X. “He’s already made the trips to do 30 visits with the Titans and Browns. Confident he’ll go Top 4, I’m told those are the ONLY four teams that the Penn State star plans to visit.”

PFSN’s latest mock draft projects Carter to go No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans. However, most league insiders believe the Titans are leaning toward quarterback Miami’s Cam Ward with the top pick.

Still, the hype around Carter is real — and earned. After starting his college career as an off-ball linebacker, Carter transitioned to a full-time edge rusher in 2024. That season, he posted 12 sacks and two forced fumbles, quickly becoming a dominant force on the national stage.

Carter racked up postseason accolades in 2024, including first-team AP All-American honors, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive Lineman of the Year, and First-Team All-Big Ten. He was also a finalist for the Bednarik Award, given to the nation’s top defensive player.

“Carter is a versatile player who can align all across the defensive front,” wrote PFSN draft analyst Brentley Weissman. “He is an outstanding overall athlete with a rare blend of speed, burst, and agility that allows him to be a game-wrecker as a pass rusher.”

Whether it’s No. 1 or shortly after, experts expect Carter to come off the board early. He’ll enter the league with high expectations — to help anchor a defense and develop into a consistent double-digit sack producer at the next level.
