NFL Insider Provides Major Update On Titans’ Trade Talks Involving No. 1 Pick

The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With several roster needs, including quarterback and edge rusher, there’s speculation about who the team will take.

While they could draft a number of players with the top pick, they’re not locked into staying at that spot. Could the Titans explore a trade?

NFL Insider Shares Update on Titans’ Plans With No. 1 Pick

Regardless of Tennessee’s draft strategy, one thing seems clear: Will Levis’ time as the unquestioned starter is likely over.

According to PFSN’s QB+ metrics, Levis ranked 34th last season with a 61.9 rating (D-), one of the lowest marks in the NFL.

After struggling as a rookie, many expected Levis to take a step forward in Year 2. Instead, his play regressed, raising serious questions about his long-term future as an NFL starter. With the Titans holding the No. 1 pick, it’s looking more and more likely they’ll use it on Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. (The Titans have private workouts scheduled with both.)

However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the decision isn’t “firm and final” yet as the Titans continue evaluating all options — including trading back.

“My understanding, despite the fact that they haven’t signed a veteran QB yet, still need one and don’t have a starter. Hasn’t made the firm and final decision that they are making the pick, they are still going through the evaluation process … To me, it seems likely, as of now, that they make the pick, but certainly, they are not done with that decision.”

While a trade would make sense given Tennessee’s long list of needs — including quarterback, wide receiver, and edge rusher — the Titans would still have to find a franchise quarterback if they moved down.

Titans Go With Cam Ward at No. 1 Overall in Latest PFSN Mock Draft

In PFSN’s latest mock draft by Ben Rolfe, the Titans are projected to take Ward with the No. 1 overall pick.

“The Tennessee Titans have done very little to address their quarterback situation in free agency, suggesting that their eggs are firmly in the basket of adding a rookie this offseason.”

“Ward is the upside play as the ultimate playmaker at QB, boasting elite arm talent, effortless velocity, and dynamic athleticism,” PFSN lead NFL analyst Dalton Miller wrote in his scouting report on Ward.

Even if it takes some time for Ward to reach his ceiling, Tennessee — after enduring Levis at quarterback — should be up for the challenge. If Ward can hit the level he showed in college, it could be a win for the Titans.
