Jalen Milroe had an up-and-down season in his final year playing college football. He threw for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 64.3% of his pass attempts, adding 726 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on 168 carries.
He has widely been projected to fall to the second day of the 2025 NFL Draft. While there have been questions regarding his ability to play right away, one general manager reportedly believes that the former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback could still be a late first-round pick.

NFL GM Predicts Jalen Milroe Could Land in First Round
The 2025 NFL Draft has been labeled as one of the weakest quarterback classes in recent memory. While many have projected that there will either be two or three quarterbacks selected in the first round, one general manager believes Milroe could sneak into the first round.
Speaking on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, ESPN analyst Peter Schrager stated:
“Another GM I was talking to over the weekend… he’s like, ‘I can easily see Milroe going late first. That’s the kind of deal where you have a starter already and then you put Milroe in for some subset packages and then two, three years, who knows? Jalen Milroe is your guy and he’s been learning for a year’.”
Schrager added that the general manager praised Milroe’s running ability and his arm. He also acknowledged the struggles of the former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback, noting he was benched against the South Florida Bulls in 2023.
It is unclear which team could take a gamble on Milroe late in the first round; however, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams stand out as potential fits.
The former has not addressed the position, and while the latter has Matthew Stafford under center, he is 37 years old and could be nearing the end of his playing days. Los Angeles ranked 11th in PFN’s Offense+ metric, while Pittsburgh ranked 25th.
There is also a possibility that a team moves back into the first round to grab the dual-threat quarterback and pick up the fifth-year team option. In addition to the Steelers and Rams, Milroe has reportedly met with the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks, among others.
He was one of 17 players – and three quarterbacks, along with Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart – to accept an invite to the 2025 NFL Draft. Reports emerged that teams were confused about the draft invite, however, all it takes is one franchise to gamble on the former Crimson Tide star.
