Indianapolis Colts (4-8-1) vs. Minnesota Vikings (10-3)

  • Channel: NFL Network
  • Location: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: NFL+, fuboTV

The Minnesota Vikings will look to start off our NFL games today with a bang when they host the Indianapolis Colts. The Vikings are coming off a loss to the surging Detroit Lions as they struggle to shake off the “fraudulent” tag that most pundits have put on them since the start of the season. A win here should lock up the NFC North title, guaranteeing them a playoff spot.

With the top seed slowly slipping away thanks to an elite Philadelphia Eagles squad, the best the Vikings can hope for at this point would be the No. 2 seed. The biggest issue for Minnesota right now is their defense, which is struggling to stop anybody. They currently rank 24th in points allowed, giving up 24.1 per game. But, more importantly, they are last in the league in total yards allowed, giving up 403.7 yards per game.

Offensively, they continue to be lights out. Even in their loss to Detroit last week, Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson balled out. The Vikings QB threw the ball for over 400 yards with two touchdowns. His top target had 11 receptions for an unreal 223 yards. He now has 1,500 yards on the season and is only 133 yards shy of breaking Randy Moss’ franchise single-season record of 1,632. Jefferson might even be able to usurp Calvin Johnson’s NFL single-season record of 1,964 yards set in 2012 with the Lions.

Meanwhile, the Colts are basically just playing out the rest of the season so that they can officially turn the page to 2023. After firing their head coach and putting a former player, Jeff Saturday, at the helm, the team has lost three straight and sits at 4-8-1 on the year.

Matt Ryan looks geriatric, and the offense has done nothing but struggle this season. Even Jonathan Taylor, last year’s best running back in football, hasn’t been able to find any success this season. The Colts only average 16.1 points per game, which is 31st in the NFL.

Baltimore Ravens (9-4) vs. Cleveland Browns (5-8)

  • Channel: NFL Network
  • Location: FirstEnergy Stadium, Ohio
  • Start time: 4:30 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: NFL+, fuboTV

The second Saturday NFL game being played today is between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. Both of these teams are heading in opposite directions, with the Ravens fighting for the division while the Browns are just hanging on at this point. With only five wins on the year, the Browns just got their offseason acquisition Deshaun Watson back under center after serving his 11-game suspension.

Watson has played two games since his return, and he clearly needs to shake off some rust. After not playing an NFL game for the last two years, Watson is struggling. Passes lack velocity, accuracy is nonexistent, and chemistry is a serious problem. Unfortunately for the Browns, this Ravens defense is not one you want to play when your QB is struggling. They currently have 23 takeaways, which actually lead the entire AFC.

Things get worse for Cleveland when you look at what this Ravens’ defense can do against the run. The Browns have struggled in the air, but their focal point has always been their two-headed rushing attack of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. However, they will need to find another way to score against Baltimore as the Ravens have the second-best defense against the rush in the NFL, allowing only 81.2 yards per game.

When it comes to Baltimore, the biggest question is going to be around their offense without QB Lamar Jackson. With Jackson still out due to injury, backup Tyler Huntley will take the reigns for the second week in a row. Huntley suffered a concussion during last week’s win over the Steelers but has been cleared to play this week.

Miami Dolphins (9-4) vs. Buffalo Bills (5-8)

  • Channel: NFL Network
  • Location: New Era Field, Orchard Park
  • Start time: 8:15 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: NFL+, fuboTV

The crown jewel of the NFL games today has to be this AFC East showdown between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. Rewind just a few weeks ago, and these two teams were in a battle for first place in the division. Now, after some tough losses and a long road stretch, the Dolphins are just trying to hold on to a wild card spot. Meanwhile, Buffalo has double-digit wins on the season, but the team continues to disappoint offensively (at least in the eyes of the media).

A big part of the Dolphins’ recent struggles has been the mediocre play of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. After being in the MVP conversation for much of the season, Tua has come back down to earth. In the team’s latest loss to the Chargers, he went 10 for 28 passing with one touchdown and rushed for 28 yards. His 35.7% completion percentage was the worst of his career.

It doesn’t all fall on Tua, though. The young QB has been sacked a total of nine times the last three games, and his offensive line has struggled due to injuries. If they want to turn things around, they are going to need to get back to what works, and honestly, that just means getting the ball to Tyreek Hill more often. Hill is currently leading the NFL with 100 catches this season and is behind just Justin Jefferson with 1,460 yards.

When it comes to Buffalo, they continue to find ways to win. They are currently on a four-game winning streak and are coming off two divisional wins against the Patriots and Jets. The last time these two teams played was back in Week 3 when the Dolphins got the surprise win 21-19. However, if you look at the numbers in that one, Buffalo played much better than Miami. If Buffalo could have simply converted one additional red zone drive (2 of 4), they likely win that game.

The biggest factor in this one is going to be the weather. Buffalo is expected to see between 18 and 24 inches of snow. A lot has been said this week about what Tua will be able to do in less-than-ideal weather conditions, especially considering how poorly their rushing attack has been this year. Will a Miami team that needed heaters in Los Angeles be able to brave the snow and get a win in Buffalo?
