‘Would Be the Biggest Scam in NFL History’ — NFL Fans React as Matthew Stafford-to-Giants Rumors Intensify

The Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford are rumored to be potentially parting ways for various reasons, including rumors the front office is frustrated with his wife Kelly’s various public statements about the team.

While Stafford isn’t officially on the trade block like his teammate Cooper Kupp, the Rams might get calls from various teams possibly inquiring about the veteran quarterback.

One of the teams rumored to be a fit for Stafford is the New York Giants, who desperately need a franchise quarterback and might not be thrilled with this 2025 NFL Draft class.

NFL Fans React to Intensifying Matthew Stafford-Giants Rumors

During one of the latest episodes of his show, Colin Cowherd opened up about a call with a longtime NFL executive, who approved his proposal for his idea for Stafford to join the Giants as the Rams tire of the constant talk, his wife dropping statements publicly, and the ongoing Kupp situation.

As for the Giants, Cowherd predicts how head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen will probably be shown the exit door if they don’t land a good quarterback for the 2025 season.

According to Cowherd, the Rams want the Giants’ first-round pick, No. 3 in the current NFL Draft order, which could result in Sean McVay’s team having a “rental quarterback” for a couple of years in Aaron Rodgers.

“The Rams want that No. 3 pick in the draft because they’re drafting way later. They want to take that pick, move down, and get more picks. Why? So they have extra picks for next year when they have to move up to get a quarterback,” Cowherd said.

“So what the Rams will be in the market for if Matt Stafford moves, is a one-to-two-year rental at quarterback — Aaron Rodgers. Hear me out. Aaron needs a rehab. [Green Bay] Packers got better without him. His image, big advertisers, not interested. The [New York] Jets were a mess. He needs a rehab. Got a house in Malibu, [Calif.,] West Coast guy — by the way, in a division with Geno Smith, Kyler Murray, Brock Purdy.”

Fans reacted to the potential Stafford-Giants move, and one said, “That is a horrible idea.. bad trade… if it happens.”

“lol if they trade 3 for Stafford I’d light myself on fire. Nowhere near 3,” another added.

Another fan pointed out, “The giants have been alll over Sanders for years,” bringing his attention to the previous Shedeur Sanders-Giants rumors that reached heights during Colorado’s bowl game and during the Shrine Bowl.

“The GM would get fired if he made this move,” predicted one more user.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter Shoots Down Stafford-Giants Rumors

Fans who are upset about the possibility should feel better about ESPN’s Adam Schefter throwing water on the Stafford to Giants rumors.

Schefter noted that the Rams and Stafford are committed to working out a deal, but there’s no guarantee that this will happen. And if they can’t work out a deal, Schefter said it makes sense that the Giants would be in the conversation, but that doesn’t necessarily meet reality.

“That pick is not in the conversation if Matthew Stafford and the Rams can’t get a deal worked out, and if Matthew Stafford becomes available and all of a sudden the Giants surface as a contender,” said Schefter.

He continued, “If all those things happen – and they could – if all those things happen, there is no way in hell that the Giants are giving up the third overall pick for Matthew Stafford. Zero.”

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisc., from April 24-26, but the dominoes will start to fall earlier than that when the new league year (and free agency) begins on March 12.
