Why is Joe Buck not announcing an NFL game today?
We have become somewhat used to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman not being on our screens on a Sunday this season. When CBS has the double-header for the week, Buck and Aikman have been resting on Sundays, having called Thursday Night Football. However, in Week 8, Aikman will be on our screens but not Buck. This is somewhat unusual as the pairing has become synonymous with FOX’s national NFL game over the years.
The reason for Buck’s absence is that he will be calling Game 5 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves in Atlanta. There was a chance that Buck could have been available to FOX, had the World Series have ended in four games. However, with the Braves and Astros splitting the first two games, that potential immediately disappeared.
