NFL Analyst Draws Bold Comparisons Between Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes and Miami’s Cam Ward

Other than Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, Miami Hurricanes star Cam Ward is the most hyped-up player in the 2025 NFL Draft class.

Many analysts even believe Ward to be the No. 1 overall pick over Hunter and Sanders, and go to the Tennessee Titans.

Due to Ward’s electric football skills, an NFL analyst made major comparisons between him and the three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes.

NFL Analyst Draws Likens Between Patrick Mahomes and Cam Ward

Cam Ward is known as a big-armed quarterback who can move the ball all over the field, which led Emory Hunt, an NFL analyst, to draw comparisons between him and Patrick Mahomes.

Hunt said that he loves the fact that Ward has an arm arrogance that makes him feel like he can make any throw on the field in any given situation.

The analyst highlighted Ward’s success at the Incarnate Word, Washington State, and Miami, making all these programs more relevant than they were before he joined them.

Hunt said that even though Ward is slightly shorter than Mahomes, they’re about the same weight and that we were hearing a lot of the same stuff about the Miami star that we did when Mahomes was coming out of college.

He concluded by saying that both quarterbacks share the same kind of arm arrogance, the confidence to throw to the tightly covered receiver, and the ability to make any kind of throw on the football field.

“What I love about Ward, and have always loved about his game, is the arm arrogance that he has. You know, this guy feels like he can make any throw on a football field in any situation, in any scenario, and 9.5 times out of 10, he’s able to do it. He was doing it at Incarnate Word. He did it at Washington State, and he did it more recently, you know, at Miami, and made each one of these programs relevant.”

“What strikes me is a similar comp to Cam Ward now, again, he’s maybe a little bit shorter than this guy, about the same weight, but the same things you heard about this particular prospect, coming out of college you hear about Cam Ward and that’s Patrick Mahomes, you know, the same type of arm arrogance, the confidence to throw to the tightly covered receiver, the ability to make any type of throw in the field.”

The 2025 NFL Combine will take place in Green Bay, Wis., from April 24 to April 26.
