‘It Bothers Me’ – NFL Analyst Criticizes Shedeur Sanders’ Need To Be a ‘Celebrity Quarterback’

The Sanders family is one of the most talked-about families in the football world, especially with the 2025 NFL Draft coming up. Deion and Shedeur are leaving no stone unturned to bring as much attention to them as possible.

While all the media presence has helped create hype around Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, there is also some criticism about their desire for celebrity status.

During a recent sit-down conversation on the YouTube channel ESPN Cleveland, analysts Tony Grossi and Chopz discussed the contrast between Sanders’ and Cam Ward’s media games.

NFL Analysts Criticize Shedeur Sanders’ Excessive Media Presence Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft

Sanders has been all over the internet throughout the 2024 college football season, and that was also the case this weekend when the Colorado quarterback accompanied dad Coach Prime to New Orleans for Super Bowl weekend.

During a recent podcast, Grossi and Chopz discuss how they like the way Miami’s star Ward is invisible compared to Sanders, who makes appearances at all these different events, wearing his diamond jewelry and giving interviews left and right.

“I will say this: there’s one thing I like already about Cam Ward, okay, being invisible at this time, Shedeur every day I saw on TV during the Super Bowl week. And listen, he came across as very likable. He did, you know, with the gigantic gold chain hanging from his neck, but I like the fact that Cam Ward is in, you know, he’s not looking to the celebrity route.

“It bothers me a little bit that Shedeur is what Bill Parcells used to call a celebrity quarterback, right? Wait for the celebrity stuff after you’ve achieved something,” Grossi stated.

Chopz nodded in agreement but said that for Sanders, media attention was inevitable because he is Deion’s son.

Grossi replied that he doesn’t blame Sanders and understands that Deion is proud of him. He is also a father who likes to take his son out there, but it’s still a little uneasy for him.

“It’s a little uneasy for me. You know what? We’re not talking about anything on the field. This is all off-the-field stuff, yeah, but it struck me that Cam Ward is out of sight, out of mind, and what’s he doing? I’m sure he’s not chucking paper towels somewhere in Miami. He’s working out. He’s getting ready for the draft and the combine.”

There’s a constant debate about whether Ward or Sanders should go higher during the 2025 NFL Draft, as they’re both considered the best quarterbacks in this class.
