Aaron Rodgers Settles Concern of Jets On-Field Arguments: ‘Those Are Good Conversations’

The New York Jets have looked like a Super Bowl team over the first two weeks of training camp practices.

That doesn’t mean they are beyond a scandal or two.

Following two straight difficult practices for the offense, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Garrett Wilson were seen having animated discussions on the sideline with plenty of people looking on.

Much ado about nothing or a big deal? Today, we break it down.

Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson Get Heated At Training Camp

It had been a full week of practices before the Jets’ defense appeared to gather some wins against their offense in training camp. From practices on Monday and Tuesday, New York’s elite defense dominated both days of team drills and left Rodgers frustrated at times on the sideline.

During those moments, Rodgers could be seen having animated discussions with many players like center Joe Tippmann.

It was his conversations with Wilson, though, that brought forth some concern for Jets fans across the country.

On two separate occasions, it appeared New York’s franchise quarterback and top receiver were seen arguing on the sideline about something undisclosed. It should be noted that after both discussions, the two players were seen shaking hands and moving on with the rest of practice.

Is something deeper going on, or is this just two fiery personalities working together?

    Jets Duo Cools Off Concern

On Wednesday, both Wilson and Rodgers made it clear that it was the latter.

Speaking to reporters after connecting for three of Rodgers’ six touchdown practices during practice, Wilson and the four-time NFL MVP detailed some reasons for their conversation, and why it isn’t a big deal for anyone.

“Whenever we’re out there having those conversations and getting the way we are, we’re getting better,” Wilson said. “We’re gaining an understanding of each other and the way we go about things, the way we think and interpret the game. It’s truly enlightening for me every time we have convos like that, despite how it may look.”

Rodgers took the time to mention that while a video may show the two players arguing, it usually isn’t always the case.

In this regard, the reality of the situation was more like two passionate players looking to get on the same page on the field.

“I love those conversations,” Rodgers explained. “It’s about the details, it’s about winning, it’s about seeing what he sees. He’s got to get on my page, but I’ve got to get on his page, too, because he’s got a whole book that I need to understand fully of skill set and ability and feel and rhythm and all the different things that he does out there. So, those are good conversations.”
