During their recent game, the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons were involved in a chaotic brawl that led to the ejections of four players.

The Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets are heading into the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in the most unexpected fashion. A fight broke out between the two teams on Monday, resulting in four players being ejected as the game wrapped up.

The NBA world could not help but react, sending the incident viral on X.

NBA World Drops Reactions to Viral Pistons-Hornets Fight

During the third quarter of the Pistons‑Hornets game, players got into a fight that led to multiple ejections — Moussa Diabate and Miles Bridges of the Hornets, and Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart of the Pistons.

Despite the chaotic situation, many fans remained entertained by the ordeal.

SiriusXM’s Rob Perez even dubbed it the brawl of the year as he wrote: “Absolute banger in Charlotte. Brawl of the year. Knueppel arson’ing this 4th quarter. Cade point god’ing. Crowd sounds like Wrestlemania. 9-game win streak on the line against best team in East. Defcon 1 League Pass Alert.”

Others captured Pistons forward Duncan Robinson’s reaction to the fight. Initially attempting to get involved, Robinson ultimately looked deflated as he walked away from the commotion:

Many were amused by the unexpected altercation. New York Knicks star Josh Hart seemed to enjoy the fight, writing on X, “THEY SCRAPPIN!”

Jordan Clarkson followed with a perfectly timed one-word response: “Damn”.

Clippers reporter Tomer Azarly wrote, “Woahhh what just happened in this Pistons-Hornets game????”

Memphis media personality Chris Vernon, meanwhile, wrote, “Full on fighting in Pistons/ Hornets game. WOAH. gonna be real suspensions. That was not ‘hold me back’ style. They were swingin.”

Breaking Down the Chaotic Pistons-Hornets Fight

With the Pistons leading 70-62, the brawl was sparked by a hard foul. Diabate fouled Duren as the latter attempted a shot, and the two continued jawing even after the whistle.

The situation escalated when Duren shoved Diabate, triggering a chain reaction. Diabate lunged toward Duren, prompting players, coaches, and officials to rush toward the scene.

Despite efforts to restrain him, the 24-year-old Diabate remained visibly upset and difficult to calm.

Officials initially struggled to regain control. Bridges then escalated matters by throwing a punch at Duren, which drew Stewart — who was not on the floor — into the fray.

Eventually, nearly every official on hand was involved in restoring order.

While the NBA has yet to issue an official statement, the ejected players — at the very least — are expected to be fined.

The Pistons went on to win the game 110-104. The Hornets currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference, while the Pistons remain atop the standings at No. 1 with a 39-13 record.
