Ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors were among the favorites to land Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to reports, the Warriors had an offer rejected for the two-time MVP, pivoting away before the deadline.
Near the end of the NBA trade deadline, the Warriors made the decision to trade Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks. In exchange, they received $60 million star Kristaps Porzingis. Kuminga was reportedly a key part of any offer for Antetokounmpo.

“As a result of holding onto their assets, the Warriors can now be aggressive again when the time comes for the offseason. Does this mean another pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo? Or maybe even Bam Adebayo asks for a trade from the Miami Heat.” NBA insider Brett Siegel shared.
In his report, Siegel noted that the Warriors had previously shown interest in the Heat star, who has a strong relationship with current Warriors player Jimmy Butler. Butler agreed to a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors in 2025.
Additionally, in his report, Siegel noted that Warriors’ owner Joe Lacob also owns the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA, and may be looking to acquire a star player soon. In his report, the insider revealed that Lacob may move for WNBA star A’ja Wilson.
“A’ja Wilson, a four-time WNBA MVP, will be a key free agent target for Lacob and the Valkyries. Wilson and Adebayo have been together for years. These two becoming the faces of both Golden State franchises is certainly something to monitor.” Siegel revealed.
Adebayo has a $163,000,300 contract through the 2028-2029 season. Before the NBA trade deadline, the Heat shot down any rumors of a potential trade. Alongside the Golden State Warriors, the Heat were also one of the favorites to land Antetokounmpo.
According to reports, the Heat never planned to include Adebayo in any deal for Giannis; however, they are expected to return for the Bucks’ star in the Summer. ESPN’s Jamal Collier recently reported that Antetokounmpo and the Bucks won’t hold any discussions about his future until this summer.
Additionally, Siegel also reported that the Warriors did not have the pieces required to move for Antetokounmpo before the NBA trade deadline. The franchise originally made an offer centered around Draymond Green that was reportedly shot down.
“The Golden State Warriors had been in contact with the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo several times in the week leading up to the trade deadline, offering an aggressive package. However, they received a clear indication that Milwaukee did not want to accept such a deal at this time,” Siegel shared.
Ahead of the summer, Warriors’ GM Mike Dunleavey revealed that the Golden State Warriors have the goods to make something happen. This means that they will likely be preparing to make a big offer for the likes of Antetokounmpo or Adebayo.
