Is Victor Wembanyama Playing Today? Latest on the Spurs Superstar’s Injury Status for Game 4 vs. Blazers

Victor Wembanyama clears a major concussion hurdle, entering Game 4 as questionable and raising San Antonio's series hopes.

The San Antonio Spurs enter a pivotal Game 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday at Moda Center, leading the series 2-1.

San Antonio successfully dealt with Victor Wembanyama’s absence on Friday and secured a steady 120-108 road victory over Portland, with Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper stepping up to shoulder the offensive load.

The focus will now shift to Wembanyama’s injury status ahead of Sunday’s tip-off.

Victor Wembanyama Injury Update Ahead of Game 4 Against the Trail Blazers

Wembanyama suffered a fall during the second quarter of Tuesday’s Game 2 loss to Portland. While trying to spin and back down the Trail Blazers’ Jrue Holiday in the paint, Wembanyama was fouled and fell awkwardly.

Unable to brace himself, the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year fell face-first, and his jaw hit the hardwood.

He was immediately removed from the game, and the medical staff ruled him out with a concussion, thrusting him into the NBA’s mandatory, step-by-step concussion protocol.

Adhering to league guidelines that mandate at least 48 hours of rest, followed by heavily monitored, symptom-free exertion benchmarks, Wembanyama sat out San Antonio’s Game 3 victory.

For Spurs fans hoping to see Wembanyama back on the floor, there is some reason for optimism heading into tip-off.

According to the latest injury report, Wembanyama has been upgraded and available to play against the Blazers in Game 4.

While most teams would crumble without their primary offensive engine and rim protector, San Antonio’s young core refused to fold in Game 3.

Harper exploded for 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Castle recorded a game-high 33 points, as well as 2 rebounds and 5 assists.

Meanwhile, Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson managed 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist against an undersized Spurs frontcourt, shooting 8-for-18 from the floor.

Squandering a golden opportunity in Wembanyama’s absence, Portland committed 10 turnovers on Friday night, buckling under pressure with poor reads and forcing difficult passes into heavy traffic.

When Game 4 tips off at the Moda Center, the Spurs’ priority will be to take a 3-1 series stranglehold as they look to push Portland to the brink of elimination.

With Wemby now set to return, the Spurs will have a much better chance of taking that lead tonight. His absence has certainly been noticeable and it will be interesting to see how he fares in his first game back.
