The Toronto Raptors took on the Orlando Magic on Sunday. Both teams, at this point in the season, are trying to secure a playoff spot and hope to avoid the play-in.
Given their disparity in records, it was interesting to see which team would play with more urgency on Sunday. It seems that the Raptors wanted the win more than the Magic after the team made history. The NBA world reacted to the historic event, sharing their thoughts on social media.
Toronto Raptors Dethrone Dallas Mavericks in NBA Record Books
When the Raptors and Magic faced off on Sunday, some were expecting a close game. This is mainly because both teams have had similar paths heading into the postseason.
Looking at the Eastern Conference standings, the Raptors are currently sitting in fifth place with a 42-32 record. Meanwhile, the Magic are in eighth place with a 39-35 record, trailing Toronto by three games.
Given that there are only eight games left in the regular season, many expected both teams to play with a sense of urgency, making the game close on Sunday.
However, it seems the Raptors were hungrier after setting a new record. Toronto now holds the NBA’s longest streak without a loss. The record, previously held by the Dallas Mavericks in 2023 after going on a 30-0 run against the Oklahoma City Thunder, was broken when the Raptors notched a 31-0 run.
The NBA world was in shambles, unable to believe what it had witnessed on Sunday. Here’s what some of them had to say on X:
