Is Stephen Curry Playing Tonight? Latest Update on Warriors Star For Wizards Clash

Stephen Curry will miss his 18th game with runner's knee as the Warriors face the Wizards, but he remains optimistic about returning this season.

Stephen Curry has been a major absence for the Golden State Warriors as they struggle to keep their playoff hopes alive. The superstar guard continues to recover from his runner’s knee that has sidelined him since late January.

The mercurial sharpshooter has already missed 17 games this season. The Warriors are already without two-way mainstay Jimmy Butler after a torn ACL ruled him out for the season.

Is Stephen Curry Playing Against the Washington Wizards?

As a major dampener, the Warriors will be without Curry when they play the Wizards on the road. The four-time NBA champion will be off the floor as he continues to heal from his injury. His absence marks the 18th game he has missed this season. Curry’s last game was against the Detroit Pistons.

At the time of writing, there is no definitive timetable for his return. But the Warriors are also optimistic that their floor general will return before the end of the regular season.

Earlier, Curry signaled his intention to take the court for the Warriors soon. Speaking to The Athletic, “That’s not who we are,” Curry said, after the Warriors’ 110-107 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. “If we have stuff to play for, we play. So, I’m working to get back.”

While he has begun individual workouts, Curry has yet to be cleared for action. The Warriors hope the veteran guard can get the green light and help the side in the play-in, which the Bay Area side is on track to play in.

In the same interview, Curry was asked about taking fans’ suggestions of resting for the remainder of the season and returning to full health.”Before next year. I know we’re depleted, but the idea of my injury is just getting information by the day, ‘Can I play safely? Be myself out there and not put myself in danger short-term or long-term?”

“And then, we still have stuff to play for. We’d love to see guys in a playoff series and take a swing,” he added. Curry has played 39 games this season, averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

The Warriors are on a tough five-game losing streak. They will hope to arrest that slide when they play the Wizards for the first time this season. As for their opponents, they have one of the worst records this season, having won just 16 of their 66 games.

With a 32-25 record, the Warriors will hope to make a late surge as the regular season inches to a close. Only time will tell if Curry will recover in time to give the side a chance to make the postseason.
