The transcendence of Stephen Curry knows no bounds. What began as a solid NBA career has slowly transformed into one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, right in front of our eyes. As he’s climbed the ranks of superstardom, he’s diversified his game to an unbelievable extent.
Reliable in the clutch, a wizard with the ball in his hands, uncanny ability to move without the basketball, and unbelievable stamina have played a major part in crafting his legacy. However, the epicenter of his success remains his shooting ability. As a result, it made sense that his out-of-the-world shooting stroke received just the marketing campaign to make it a reality.
Genius Stephen Curry Billboard Catches Fans’ Attention
Over the years, Curry has donned many hats in the public eye. Coming in as a second-generation star, he was a son, a collegiate superstar, a first-round pick, and a starting point guard. Then, as his stature continued to grow, All-Star appearances and Most Improved Player Awards followed, before he registered his first MVP and championship. Since then, he’s become the only unanimous MVP in NBA history and added three more championships.
But, on an individual level, he’s earned a Finals MVP, multiple All-Star and All-NBA appearances, won All-Star Game MVP, and set the record for the most 3-pointers made in league history.
On a personal level off the court, he has also become a husband and a father. But the latest cap on his resume is that of an author. “Shot Ready,” his new book, was released in September and has been a hit among basketball fans immediately.
However, the marketing may have played a major role in its success. Going above and beyond, they had some spectacular ideas to get the world talking. However, none might have been as creative as the billboard in Los Angeles.
Partnering with Random House and creative agency Known proved to be a stroke of genius, as they created a wholly unique board which has Curry in line for a shot. With the words Stephen Curry and Shot Ready splattered across, the top of his hands seem to be coming out of the board for his shot.
But what makes it truly special is the timing. Thanks to its pitch-perfect placement, it appears like the moon is the ball Curry is shooting in the night sky. Fans were quick to take note of the idea, as multiple images and videos went viral on social media.
And, it isn’t out of coincidence that such a phenomenon came to be. “Known’s science and creative teams worked together to engineer a massive image of Steph timed perfectly to literally shoot the moon — November’s supermoon, to be exact,” revealed Mark Feldstein, president and partner, Studios at Known.
