It has been a wildly disappointing season for the Golden State Warriors. After a second-round exit in the playoffs last year, the hope was that an additional year would bring out the chemistry between Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler and lead them to even bigger heights.
However, reality has been as disconnected from that situation as it can be. The team is sub-.500 and toiling away in the Play-In race. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like things will get better, as Curry still remains out of the lineup.
When Will Stephen Curry Return from His Knee Injury?
A strong start to the season had many believing that the best version of the Warriors could be coming to life. However, the story of the year has been the injury blows that have completely derailed them, as they now sit at 35-38.
An illness early in the season, followed by repeated knee issues, kept Curry fluctuating in and out of the lineup. Then a major blow came in the form of a torn ACL to Butler, ending his season almost immediately.
Unfortunately, Curry’s status hasn’t been much better. Since he last suited up near the end of January, Golden State has missed his presence on the court. Losing the unreal gravity that he brings to any lineup has severely limited the team’s ceiling.
But on a raw production basis, too, the numbers the two-time MVP was putting up were eye-popping, to say the least. Averaging 27.2 points and 4.8 assists, he looked well on his way to being the leader for the franchise.
However, a knee injury continues to keep him sidelined, with no real return timeline in sight. The latest update came from Anthony Slater of ESPN, who gave an approximate idea of where the Warriors stand with their franchise icon, and it wasn’t great news for the fanbase.
“An update on Steph Curry will be provided by the team ‘by the end of the week’ per @anthonyVslater.” The scarier part of his update was that the four-time NBA champion hadn’t begun scrimmaging just yet.

That essentially guarantees that he won’t be taking the court before April, which was the estimate the team was keeping for him. By the end of the week, only seven games will be remaining in the season, and the Warriors won’t be able to climb out of the Play-In.
That will make it the fourth time in the six years since its inception that Golden State is a part of the prelude to the playoffs. But even with very little hope of making any noise, head coach Steve Kerr made it clear that Curry would be returning to the court if he is healthy.
