Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s split didn’t stay private for too long.
After multiple rumors, Megan officially announced via social media that they had parted ways on Saturday, with the rapper using the word “cheating” to describe the Dallas Mavericks star.
As the internet took note of the same, Stephen A. Smith jumped in and took his swing as well.

What Stephen A. Smith Said About Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion’s Split
ESPN host Stephen A. Smith didn’t take sides at first, but his reasoning soon made his target clear on “Straight Shooter with Stephen A.”
“I’m not saying whatever she felt was wrong,” Smith said. “I don’t know what happened in their relationship. Don’t wanna know, ain’t none of my d*mn business and none of y’all’s either. But Megan Thee Stallion made it so this Saturday night. Why? How come you couldn’t just break up and go on your merry way?”
He continued questioning why Megan had to drag their relationship into public view at all. “How come you couldn’t say, ‘We had our time together, but I’m back to being single again. Klay Thompson and I are no longer together,’ and leave it at that… Why we gotta dog the brother out? Is there a wedding that I missed?”

“Is there nuptials that took place that nobody knew about? Did we sit up there before God and say yo, here’s what we doin’… That’s between you, your person, your pastor, and God. It ain’t nobody’s business.”
Then came Smith’s counter-question targeted towards the Grammy Award-winning artist: “We didn’t hear from Klay. What if Klay said it was you? What if Klay said it was you out there getting your freak on? These women just chirp chirp chirp chirping all over the d*mn place… Why is she telling his business?”
The reaction landed in the middle of an already-loud weekend. Megan’s Saturday Instagram post accused Thompson, her boyfriend since July 2025, of infidelity without naming him.

She followed with a formal statement confirming the breakup, citing trust, fidelity, and respect. Thompson has not publicly responded.
Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese expressed support for Megan on X. Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington said the saga reinforced why she’d keep relationships private.
Seattle Storm’s Lexie Brown, however, found her name in the rumor mill within a day of their breakup. Right after Megan’s stories, online speculation began tying her to Thompson, with a viral claim circulating that she had shared messages with him.
However, Brown quickly shut down all these rumors via an Instagram story on Sunday.
“I’ve seen what’s being said online and I want to be clear, none of it is true and I have no involvement in this situation,” Brown wrote. “This week marks the start of an important and exciting new season for me, and my focus is fully on that.”
Thompson, 36, just wrapped up his second-year stint with Dallas, as the team finished 26-56 and missed the playoffs. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 21.7 minutes.
