Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Salary Will Increase Over the Next Five Seasons
Shai signed a five-year maximum rookie contract worth $172 million on Aug. 6, 2021, with a 15% trade bonus included. The deal began in the 2022-23 NBA season and could reach $207 million if he continues to earn All-NBA honors. According to his contract, his NBA salary is structured as follows: $30.9 million in 2022-23, $33.4 million in 2023-24, $35.9 million in 2024-25, $38.3 million in 2025-26, and $40.8 million in 2026-27.
In February 2025, Shai made a bold move by dropping his agent and choosing to represent himself in future negotiations — a decision that could save him millions of dollars. He’s also eligible for a supermax extension this offseason, reportedly worth around $294 million over four years. If he signs it, he would become the first NBA player to earn over $80 million in a single season.
His Brand Deals Boost His Earnings Beyond the NBA
Multiple brands have partnered with Gilgeous-Alexander, including Converse, Panini and AT&T. These deals have helped boost his earnings significantly outside of basketball.
Gilgeous-Alexander signed a multiyear contract with Converse, reportedly valued at $15 million annually. The deal made him the creative director of Converse Basketball and includes his signature shoe, the Shai001.
He also inked a multimillion-dollar deal with the sports collectibles brand Panini.
Another major example of his growing popularity was his 2023 deal with SKIMS. In October of that year, he collaborated with Neymar Jr. as one of the brand’s inaugural athlete ambassadors.
Gilgeous-Alexander has also appeared in AT&T commercials, including one that aired during March Madness, and was part of an endorsement campaign with high-end winter outerwear brand, Canada Goose.

In spring 2023, he purchased a six-bedroom mansion in Burlington for $6.1 million. However, due to safety concerns, he later relocated. During the 2024-25 season, he bought another home in Oklahoma for $1.6 million.
