Rich Paul Reveals 1 Major Negative Of LeBron James’ Potential Move to Cavaliers

LeBron James' agent Rich Paul has revealed the one major reason that his client may turn down a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

As LeBron James weighs his options ahead of his next move, the NBA superstar’s agent, Rich Paul, has revealed his thoughts on all the teams reportedly interested in signing him.

Paul broke down the chances of each team James is considering signing with, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Golden State Warriors.

Rich Paul Reveals Pros and Cons of LeBron James Returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers

As Paul outlined all the teams James is considering during free agency, he listed the pros and cons of each. For the Cavaliers, the agent claimed that James would be excited about returning to his home state, where he has strong relationships with owner Dan Gilbert and president Koby Altman.

Paul also gave a shoutout to Brandon Weems, who works with the Cavaliers as an Assistant General Manager and has risen through the ranks with the franchise.

“To the C-Town, Mitchell, Harden, Mobley, Allen. Dan and Grant, the Gilberts, plus Koby Altman, he was there when LeBron won there. Big X factors… Brandon Weems is basically LeBron’s brother… That is a big feather in the cap,” Paul said on the Game Over podcast.

However, Paul also listed the negatives of James returning to Cleveland. He claimed that the February trade that brought James Harden to the Cavaliers and sent Darius Garland to the Los Angeles Clippers could scupper his interest in the franchise.

Paul claimed that James is a big fan of Garland, who is also represented by the Klutch Sports Group.

“The negative is, no offense to James Harden, but no Darius Garland. He loves Darius Garland just like he loves Tyrese Maxey,” he added.

James was drafted into the NBA by the Cavaliers in 2003 and enjoyed two spells with the franchise, winning the NBA championship in 2016.

Paul gave similar insight into James’ thoughts on joining the 76ers, the Warriors, the Miami Heat, and the Dallas Mavericks. He said the 76ers would be a great fit for the four-time NBA champion, but also pointed out that the Heat have an impressive roster and claimed he would have joined the Knicks had they not won the NBA championship this past season.

James, who showed last season that he is still capable of playing at an elite level, is searching for his next team ahead of his 24th and possibly final season in the NBA. The 41-year-old is determined to contend for another NBA championship after last winning the title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
