The Los Angeles Rams have built a reputation for having one of the most creative social media teams in professional sports. Right before dropping one of the biggest stories of their offseason, they took a detour to mock another sports franchise.
Shortly before confirming Aaron Donald’s return to the team, the Rams’ official account posted a cryptic message mentioning a completely unrelated NBA controversy from earlier this summer.
Rams Take a Savage Dig at the Heat
“Anybody know how to set up a YouTube live stream without it going public? Need to test for something,” the Rams’ X post read.

The post was a nod to the Miami Heat’s own social media mishap in July. The team accidentally published a YouTube livestream titled ‘LeBron James Introductory Press Conference.’
Miami deleted it and called it an internal error that went public by mistake. James ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers rather than returning to Miami.
But the leak became an infamous social media blunder, and their job listing for a “Director of YouTube Strategy” just weeks later didn’t help either.
After the Rams’ post, the team confirmed what fans had been speculating about for weeks: Aaron Donald is coming out of retirement to rejoin Los Angeles for the 2026 season.
The three-time Defensive Player of the Year is reportedly signing a one-year, $20 million deal that could reach $30 million with incentives. He’ll team up with newly acquired edge rusher Myles Garrett to give the Rams one of the most dominant defensive rosters in the league.
According to Adam Schefter, Donald left the team’s facility on Sunday afternoon without notifying officials of his decision, but later announced his return with a simple two-word message on Instagram: “We back.”
The Rams’ X post is a savage and hilarious dig at the Heat, whose post ultimately didn’t age well. Many believed that James would return to Miami, where he won two consecutive championships.
But the four-time champ delivered the ultimate twist when he chose to join the Philadelphia 76ers, where he would be completing nothing short of a super team. Philly now boasts a dominant roster with the likes of Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and James himself.
It would be quite interesting to see how James performs in Philly, and whether he could be left wondering what could’ve been in Miami.
