With the Dodgers winning the last two World Series, the Lakers advancing to the second round behind LeBron James and Luka Dončić, and the Super Bowl-contending Rams adding superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett, there are few places set up better in the world of professional sports than the city of Los Angeles right now.
The Rams dealt several draft picks and rising star and former first-round pick Jared Verse to the Browns in exchange for Garrett. Garrett joins the likes of James, Dončić, Clippers’ wing Kawhi Leonard, Dodgers’ stars Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts, as well as Rams’ quarterback Matt Stafford, as the most well-known athletes in a city full of celebrities.
However, Garrett isn’t sure how long that will last.
Myles Garrett Discusses LeBron James’ Uncertain Future
Garrett met with the media to discuss his move to the West Coast, and he was asked about James.
“We’ll see how long LBJ is around here,” Garrett said. “I’m not sure what his future looks like, but if he wants to stay around for a couple more years, I know [L.A. sports fans] will accept him with open arms, but there’s only so long he can play.”
The Rams’ newest defensive star, Myles Garrett, addressed LeBron James’ future at his introductory news conference Thursday. “We’ll see how long LBJ is around here. I’m not sure what his future looks like, but if he wants to stay around for a couple more years, I know [L.A.…

Although it’s unclear just how many Los Angeles sports fans have accepted James, who was often compared to former Lakers’ Hall-of-Fame Kobe Bryant, they must have been pleased with advancing to the second round this season, and of course with the title James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the Lakers brought to Los Angeles during the COVID bubble.
There isn’t much question as to whether or not the King’s career is coming to an end at 41 years old; it’s already unreal that he’s still this effective. James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 51.5% from the field. Although he started the season with back issues, he played in 60 games, helping the Lakers to a 53-29 record.
He also averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in 10 postseason games – a six-game series victory over the Houston Rockets and a sweep at the hands of the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
The real question that Garrett – and everyone else – is whether or not he will be playing for the Lakers next season, and rumors have continued to fly about his uncertain future. Returning to Cleveland to join a Cavaliers team that was in the Eastern Conference Finals this season and joining Stephen Curry with the Golden State Warriors are also potentially viable options for James.
Once again, arguably the biggest question of the offseason involves James, and it will be interesting to see what James intends to do in what could be his final season.
