Patrick Beverley Responds to Dwyane Wade’s Criticism

Beverley released an episode of his podcast, “The PatBev Show.” He responded to Wade’s comments regarding his status as one of the top three shooting guards in NBA history. Beverley called out what he thinks was a ridiculous response from the 13-time All-Star.

“I listened [to Wade’s response] a little bit. He lost me when he said if you’re not better than me, you can’t speak on it. By that logic, the only person who can really speak on you, Dwyane Wade, is either Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, if you’re the number three greatest shooting guard of all-time … That’s the dumbest s**t I’ve ever heard,” Beverley said bluntly.

Before this reaction, Beverley compared his career 3-point shooting to Wade’s. As always, Beverley did not mince words when he proved he shot the ball better than Wade from beyond the arc.

“Damn Flash Rent-Free, Truth is the Truth, And u was WRONG. I shoot the 3 way better than you. Our career 3-point percentages weren’t even close. D Wade shot a measly 29.3 from 3. Pat Bev shot 37.1. 7-3 record against you, also LuvGang,” wrote Beverley.

Wade and Beverley are both from Chicago, so Beverley made sure to give Wade his flowers in his initial statement comparing Wade to Harden.

“I’m from Chicago. I love Dwyane Wade, obviously, right? So I f*** with D-Wade like that, that’s the homie,” said Beverley.

However, he played with Harden on the Houston Rockets. Harden totaled six top-five finishes in MVP voting with the Rockets, winning the award in 2017-18. He averaged 30.4 points, 8.8 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals for the campaign.

Beverley played 10 games against Wade and had a 7-3 lifetime record, but they only came at the tail end of the three-time NBA champion’s career. Wade made sure to emphasize this, saying Beverley never played against him in his peak years.

“You experienced a portion of my game. When I was winning championships, you weren’t even around. You didn’t get to feel the wrath … you know a portion, and you still couldn’t f*ck with me then … Certain conversations you can’t have,” said Wade.

Over a month ago, Iman Shumpert weighed in on the Harden-Wade debate. He disagrees with Beverley, claiming Wade is the better player. Shumpert built his argument on Wade’s ability to get to the rim and defend, rather than on Harden’s prolific 3-point shooting.

“D Wade was a different type of animal … A lot of James Harden’s whole sh*t is shooting 3s. That goes against everything I believe in. James is one of the top scorers to ever do this, but if you show me a guy that drives and gets it out the mud, I want to watch him,” expressed Shumpert.
