Who Are Pat Spencer’s Parents Donna and Bruce? All About Warriors Star’s Family Life

Pat Spencer’s journey was shaped by his father’s coaching, his mother’s support, and his two basketball-playing brothers, Cam and Will Spencer.

Golden State Warriors guard Pat Spencer didn’t transition to basketball alone. His father, Bruce, coached him early in life, while his mother, Donna, supported him during big decisions. His brothers, Cam and Will, are also active basketball players. The Spencer family has always stayed close, especially when it comes to sports.

Bruce Believes Pat Spencer Has More to Show

Pat’s father, Bruce Spencer, played a significant role in his athletic development. A Loyola University Maryland alum, he earned his MBA there and now lives in Davidsonville, Maryland. He owns an automotive business in the state called Walt Eger’s Service Center.

Bruce coached Pat’s teams during his early years. The Spencer family has deep ties through sports, especially with all three sons — Pat, Cam, and Will — sharing a passion for the game. In a 2020 interview with ESPN, Bruce talked about Pat’s confidence and drive: “He’s got that itch that’s being scratched for this year. He loves basketball. He loves lacrosse. He just loves basketball a hair more.”

He added, “I don’t know if people have seen what he can do yet. He’s capable of so much more in basketball than he’s been able to show in this first year.”

Donna Spencer Helped Pat During His Move to Illinois

Donna Spencer has always supported her son Pat, especially when he shifted from lacrosse to basketball. She helped him through the transition and even joined him on the drive from Maryland to Illinois as he prepared to start his basketball journey at Northwestern University.

Though she was concerned about how little Pat had to prove himself in a new sport, she stood by his decision. In that same ESPN interview, she said, “I’m going to try to play good basketball.”

Pat Has Two Brothers, Cam Spencer and Will Spencer

Pat’s two brothers, Cam and Will Spencer, are also active in basketball.

Cam is a 6-foot-4 guard for the Memphis Grizzlies on a two-way contract. He started his college career at Loyola University Maryland in 2019, averaging 14.6 points per game over three seasons and earning All-Patriot League First Team honors in 2022.

In 2023, Cam transferred to Rutgers University for the 2022–23 season, starting all 34 games and averaging 13.2 points per game. He finished his college career at the University of Connecticut, helping lead the Huskies to the 2024 NCAA National Championship while averaging 14.3 points per game. He earned All-Big East First Team honors and was selected 53rd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Will, the youngest of the three, is a 6-foot-4 forward in his senior year at Hood College, a Division III school. He joined the basketball team in the 2021–22 season and has been a steady contributor. Before Hood, he averaged eight points and three rebounds per game.
