Pacers Fan Pat McAfee Sends 4-Word Message Calling Out Refs During Game 4 of NBA Finals

The NBA 2025 Finals have been incredible so far, with two teams going all in against each other. The competitiveness between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder is off the charts. Moreover, the game has stayed aggressive, and the animosity between the players brewed up in Game 4.

The referees are having a challenging time managing the game, and Pacers fan Pat McAfee continues to get pissed about it. This season, NBA officiating received a lot of criticism for the number of no calls or foul calls in the league. Therefore, it irked McAfee, who came on social media to vent his feelings.

Pat McAfee Criticises Officials of the Pacers vs. Thunder Game 4

During the game, the Pacers committed 27 fouls and had Aaron Nesmith fouled out, while OKC had 26 violations in a tightly contested battle. Witnessing the intense struggle, the wrath of the Gainbridge Fieldhouse came down on the officials throughout the game. And McAfee, being a Pacers fan, posted his thoughts on X.

McAfee posted, “Hey @NBA… these refs,” as his concerns are obvious. Most of the time, there are complaints regarding how the referees take it personally and make an emotional decision rather than the correct call. Of course, they are humans and make mistakes, but the lack of consistency annoys the NBA fraternity.

There have been calls in the regular season that became questionable. The NBA also admitted the officials made incorrect calls during the Golden State Warriors’ matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. Hence, it’s a glaring issue.

According to ESPN, Adam Silver said in an interview, “We don’t publicize discipline for officials. We don’t think that will be appropriate. But their assignments are affected by the quality of their calls, whether or not they progress into the playoffs, and then round by round is impacted by the accuracy of their calls and their demeanor on the floor.”

The number of technical fouls and ejections has gone through the roof throughout the regular season. Likewise, ESPN states that Anthony Edwards had 19 technical fouls this season, and the numbers keep increasing for every other player.

Thus, Game 5 will head to the Paycom Center as the NBA Finals extend to two more games.
