Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton Reveals 1 Major Worry About Getting Older in the NBA: ‘Think About That All the Time’

Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton revealed the biggest concern he has with his career as he gets older in the NBA.

Tyrese Haliburton is nearing the age of 26, transforming himself into the Indiana Pacers’ top star and one of the best point guards in the NBA. However, he has concerns about how he’ll manage his career as he gets older. This is especially true for him in one area of the sport.

Why Tyrese Haliburton Worries About Getting Older

Haliburton is making solid progress in his injury rehab. He tore his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, ending what had been an incredible playoff run for the star guard.

Haliburton has been on the sidelines supporting the Pacers this season, even as the team has significantly struggled halfway through the 2025-26 season. That doesn’t mean that the six-year guard didn’t have things to say about his ongoing career in the league.

He appeared as a special guest on the Mind The Game podcast, hosted by Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. They discussed multiple topics throughout the Jan. 27 episode, as Haliburton revealed the one thing that bothers him as he gets older, specifically back-to-backs.

“I have days on those back-to-backs where I’m just like, especially to travel back-to-backs, like we play the day you have to fly land and you have to and then, no shoot around. You’re just kind of like, ‘I got to get through this day.’ So I can’t imagine. I think about that all the time as I get older, how things are going to change,” Haliburton said.

The Pacers Brace for a Lost Season As Haliburton Recovers To Return Stronger

Haliburton has become more aware of what his body can and can’t tolerate while he continues rehabbing his Achilles. It will be crucial for him to make a full recovery so he can help the Pacers return to playoff contention, something they most likely won’t enjoy this season.

Haliburton changed the course of the franchise when they landed him from the Sacramento Kings in the 2021-22 season. He became their superstar playmaker, leading them to two deep playoff runs. Last year marked the organization’s best-ever campaign, with the team one game away from winning its first-ever title.

Haliburton played an undeniable role throughout the 2025 playoff run, delivering clutch shots in all four of Indiana’s series. Even though he won’t play in the 2025-26 campaign, there is no doubt that he will return stronger for the 2026-26 season.

Indiana has an 11-36 record on the season, holding the 14th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. The team is above the Washington Wizards but is behind the Brooklyn Nets by 2.5 games and the Charlotte Hornets by eight games.

The Pacers recently concluded a five-game road trip as they begin a four-game homestand. They host the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. ET and the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. ET.
