‘Ask If He Read the Entire (Book)’ — NBA World Roasts LeBron James, Bronny James for Viral ‘The Odyssey’ Ad

The NBA community has some fun with Lakers star LeBron James following the release of his new ad featuring his son and teammate, Bronny James.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is preparing to lead the team in their upcoming Western Conference first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. While speculation continues about his future, James is focused on making the most of the opportunity, including the chance to share the stage with his son and Lakers teammate, Bronny.

The famous father/son duo recently shared another special moment, it has also become a source of laughter.

LeBron James Teams Up With Bronny James In New Ad

James stars alongside Bronny in a new NBA playoff ad that also serves as crossover with the upcoming movie ‘The Odyssey.’ The upcoming film adaptation of the legendary Ancient Greek epic is scheduled to hit movie theaters this July.

The ad depicts the powerful father/son relationship between James and Bronny alongside ‘The Odyssey’ main character Odysseus and his son Telemachus.

GoodNightDrew is curious, writing on X, “Someone ask LeBron if he read the entire Odyssey.” The account is referencing the infamous speculation that James is rarely invested in the books that he’s photographed with and only reads the first few pages or chapters.

SI writer Brady Tranthan wrote on X, “Great, now LeBron’s going to be walking into the arena holding a copy of the Odyssey.”

James was famously photographed with a copy of Malcom X’s autobiography, but failed to explain what he learned from it. The blunder only reinforced the belief that James brings books to games for P.R. purposes.

Sports pundit Conor Sheeran wrote, “I actually told Odysseus that he shouldn’t head home from the Trojan War that way. I visited an oracle, and she told me about Cyclops, Circe, the lotus eaters, Scylla, and Charybdis. He decided to do his own thing, though.”

Sheeran is making fun of James’ ability to predict things or attempt to be at the head of the curve, such as when he infamously predicted Lakers icon Kobe Bryant’s historic scoring performance against the Toronto Raptors.

Lakers insider Anthony F. Irwin said, “Does this make Dorian Finney-Smith the Trojan horse?”

The Trojan horse was a major strategic tool during ‘The Odyssey,’ and Irwin appears to be wondering if wing Dorian Finney-Smith could help swing the upcoming playoff series as he moved from the Lakers to the Rockets this past offseason.

Kelzi Cinema joked about the promotion, saying “Oh this movie got BUDGET budget.”

‘The Odyssey’ is projected to be one of the highest grossing movies of 2026.
