NBA Insider Gets Brutally Honest About Trade Rumors Linking Lakers to $163,000,000 Star Center

Despite the Los Angeles Lakers losing early in the playoffs after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round, the Lakers are expected to be active in the market this offseason to find potential trade targets and free agents.

The two-man tandem of LeBron James and Luka Dončić seems like the basis of what the Lakers are attempting to build upon, but James is entering his 23rd year in the league and will be 41 in December. Could it be time for the Lakers to start looking for another star to put next to Dončić instead of James?

While that possibility is always present, it seems as if the Lakers are angling to go after one potential star who would fit well as a defensive anchor and someone who can get things done in the post. Can the Lakers pull off another major deal?

Bam Adebayo Off the Table? Insider Shuts Down Lakers Trade Rumor

While on a Lakers Q&A, NBA Insider Jovan Buha was asked about the possibility of potential trades during this offseason. While Buha spoke to a few potential options, he was adamant about one option that a fan was curious about.

Buha shot down any idea of the Lakers being able to acquire Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo. It seems clear that the Heat would not have much interest in a name like Austin Reaves due to having Tyler Herro on their roster already.

“I don’t see the asset offer there for the Lakers. If you put yourself in Miami’s shoes and I made this point recently, why would they trade for Austin Reaves, when they have Tyler Herro?”

“There are some similarities there, there are some differences there, but in general, they are similar types of players, and one, Reaves is two years older than Herro, and he’s only one year younger than Bam Adebayo.”

Adebayo, who is currently under a 5-year, $163,000,000 deal, would be a good bargain for a team that needs a great big man who can defend well. The Miami Heat haven’t given any indication that Adebayo is available, but after their quick exit in the NBA playoffs, perhaps it is time to blow it up?

Will Miami Heat Trade Adebayo?

Despite Buha’s claims that the Lakers couldn’t acquire Adebayo, it could become a reality that Adebayo is on the move. The Heat don’t have the proper draft picks or the players to make a run at competing, and the idea of Herro and Adebayo as your top two options doesn’t seem to bode well for the future.

Adebayo, who averaged 18.1 points and 9.6 rebounds last season, would be a formidable option on several teams in the league now, especially a team like the Golden State Warriors, the aforementioned Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, or even the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Will the Heat trade Adebayo? There’s no telling as of now, but as the offseason heats up, anything is possible.
