MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Gave $21,000 Gift Baskets to OKC Teammates: List of Every Item, Including a Rolex

Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won this season’s NBA’s Most Valuable Player award, making him the third player in franchise history to win it alongside Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

To celebrate the momentous occasion, Gilgeous-Alexander bought some gifts for his teammates. The Thunder are a tight-knit group, so it makes sense that he wanted to treat his teammates after winning the individual honor.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Gift Baskets for His Teammates

ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed that Gilgeous-Alexander purchased a gift basket for each of his teammates. In those gift baskets were the following items:

  • A Rolex watch ranging from $13,000 to $17,000.
  • An iPhone. Charania didn’t clarify what model, but if it’s the latest, it’s worth between $1,500 to $1,800.
  • The newest Beats by Dre headphones, which are worth $350.
  • Custom Canada Goose jackets, which are worth up to $1,950.

Charania also confirmed that the Canada Goose jackets were custom embroidered to show the Thunder’s record of 68-14, celebrating the team’s regular-season success. In total, it appears Gilgeous-Alexander spent roughly $21,000 on each gift basket.

The Canada Goose jackets are likely because of Gilgeous-Alexander’s Canadian roots, as he is the country’s first MVP since Steve Nash won it in consecutive years in 2005 and 2006, when he played for the Phoenix Suns.

Gilgeous-Alexander was quite the philanthropist for his teammates. While that gift basket may sound a bit pricey, remember that by winning MVP, Gilgeous-Alexander is in line to make himself the wealthiest player in NBA history.

SGA is now eligible to sign a supermax extension. He could ink a four-year, $293 million supermax extension this offseason, or he could wait and sign a five-year, $380 million extension in the summer of 2026, as ESPN’s Bobby Marks noted.

On that supermax deal, Gilgeous-Alexander would earn over $81 million in the final year of the contract — the first player in NBA history to earn $80 million in a single season.

Still, Gilgeous-Alexander deserves credit for splurging on his teammates to further show his appreciation for them. While the MVP award is an individual honor, Gilgeous-Alexander’s teammates certainly played a role as well, particularly in the team’s success. Now, Gilgeous-Alexander and his teammates are focused on advancing to the NBA Finals and hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy.

It’s clear how much Gilgeous-Alexander embraces being the leader of Oklahoma City. This year alone, he’s taken them to the furthest they’ve gone since the Durant and Westbrook days. The Thunder are now just two wins away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 2012.

More than that, the Thunder have a realistic shot of winning their first NBA title since coming to Oklahoma City in 2008.
