Lakers Superstar Luka Dončić Eclipses Nikola Jokić for 2nd-Most 30-Point Triple-Doubles in NBA History

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Dončić passes Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokić in an interesting category after a win against the Philadelphia 76ers.

After committing himself to being in shape and ramping up his play on the defensive end of the basketball floor, Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Dončić has played on another level during the 2025-26 campaign, leading the team to one of the best records in the league over the first few months of the regular season.

No one was quite sure what version of Dončić would be seen while leading the way for the Lakers this season, but it is safe to say that he has already surpassed expectations after 23 games. Dončić continues to lead the NBA in scoring while making the Lakers a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference, with the team sporting a record of 17-6 after Sunday’s road win against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Along with helping lead the Lakers to their 17th win of the season, Dončić also made NBA history once again, passing one of his good friends, Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets, in a particularly prestigious category.

Lakers’ Luka Dončić Makes NBA History Yet Again

After Dončić recorded a 31-point triple-double against Tyrese Maxey and company, the Lakers superstar passed Jokić on the all-time list for 30-point triple-doubles, with only Milwaukee Bucks legend Oscar Robertson sitting ahead of him, via Statmuse’s X account.

Although it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that Dončić or Jokić eventually catches Robertson, both NBA superstars have a long way to go, with the Hall of Famer having 106 30-point triple-doubles. Dončić currently sits at 49 with Jokić and Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook at 48.

With Dončić and Jokić still in the prime of their respective playing careers, these two superstars will likely bounce back and forth on this list for the foreseeable future, while Westbrook might get a few more before he calls it a career.

However, neither Dončić nor Jokić is fixated on these types of milestones, as they aim to win NBA titles moving forward, with the Lakers and the Nuggets as their primary objectives.

As of now, Dončić and Jokić have a good chance of competing for titles this season and beyond, provided Los Angeles and Denver can continue to play at a high level while retaining and adding talent around them in the years to come.

It’ll be interesting to see what both of their careers look like when it is all said and done, as they will likely go down as two of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA.
