LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have won three straight and 15 of their last 17 games, improving to 49-26 and the third-best record in the Western Conference.
In their latest victory, a 120-101 win over the Washington Wizards, James scored 21 points, dished out 10 assists, and grabbed 10 rebounds. His son, Bronny James, even got in the mix, scoring six points in the victory.
LeBron James Recalls Shattering Backboard During 1-on-1 Game Against Bronny James
After the impressive showing, the father-son duo added another memorable moment to LeBron’s storied career by sharing an old story with the media.
Following the Lakers’ victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, Bronny told reporters about a time when his dad shattered the backboard while playing against him in 2014, when James was at the peak of his career and playing for the Miami Heat.

“The last time I played [LeBron] 1-on-1 – I don’t know if this story came out – but he broke a backboard at our house in Miami,” Bronny said. Lakers guard Austin Reaves asked if it was because Bronny won, and he nodded yes.
“Yeah!” Reaves shouted. “You can say that. Don’t leave that out!”

After Monday’s win, James recalled: “We had a hoop in our driveway. I drove around him and dunked it. I didn’t mean to shatter the glass, but yeah, I shattered it.”
James may have wanted to remind Bronny who was boss after Bronny made a few shots. “He made a couple of shots,” James explained. “But that’s like Miami ‘Bron. That’s like ‘Invincible ‘Bron.’ It’s not like he was about to win.”
“I didn’t mean to shatter it,” James joked. “I had to buy another one.” James then asked his son if he had to buy another one, and it appears James did not replace the basket.
James, of course, joined the Heat in 2010 and kicked off one of the most successful periods in league history. In four years in Miami, James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh combined to reach the Finals each year, winning two championships. James won two Finals MVP awards and two regular-season MVP awards while in Miami, hence the “Invincible Miami Bron” moniker.

At age 41, the elder James is still having a fabulous season. He is averaging 20.9 points, 7.0 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game and shooting 51.2% from the field while taking a bit of a backseat to the league’s leading scorer, Luka Dončić (33.7 points per game).
Bronny averages 2.1 points and 1.1 assists over 34 games, shooting 50.0%. James’ other son, Bryce James, and his Arizona Wildcats are set to take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Final Four on Saturday. The Lakers will look to extend their streak when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. ET.
