NBA Insider Has Made a Revelation Regarding the Los Angeles Lakers

The NBA trade deadline is coming up fast. Mark your calendars for Feb. 5. It is because that is when teams need to have all their deals done. We are talking just over two weeks away at this point.

All of the teams across the league are scrambling to figure out their next moves, and the Lakers are right in the thick of it.

Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor recently dropped some pretty big news about what the Lakers are planning. According to his sources, LA is open to bundling Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Maxi Kleber in a trade package if the right opportunity arises.

“With the Lakers, the word on the street is they’re trying to package Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent together for a wing. Now, the really interesting thing with them is, they’ve been shopping around their future 2032 first-round pick for multiple first-round draft picks.”

“Similar to what the Suns did a year ago when they traded their 2031 pick to the Jazz for three lesser firsts in ’25, ’27 and ’29. So it seems like the Lakers are looking for two or three firsts that are worse individually than their future first, giving them more parts to put together in like Vincent plus Vanderbilt or Vincent plus Kleber types of packages,” O’Connor said in a recent segment.

Let’s talk about these players for a second.

Vanderbilt came into the league back in 2018 when Orlando picked him 41st overall in the second round. He did not stick around there long. It was because he got shipped to Denver pretty quickly. Fast forward to 2023, and he landed with the Lakers through a three-team deal that involved the Utah Jazz.

Vincent took a different path to the NBA, going undrafted in 2018. So he had to grind it out in the G League, and his hard work paid off when he finally got his shot with the Miami Heat in 2020. After proving himself there, the Lakers came calling in 2023. They offered him a three-year deal that he couldn’t refuse.

Then there’s Kleber, who joined the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent back in 2017. He spent more than seven years in Dallas before the Lakers pulled off a significant trade to bring him over in 2025.

Money-wise, Vincent is in his third year of a $33 million deal, pulling in $11.5 million this season. Vanderbilt signed a longer commitment. It was for 4 years at $48 million, and he is currently in the second year of that contract. Kleber is supposed to earn $11,000,000 this year.

But wait, there’s more.

While the Lakers are reportedly shopping these guys, they’re also looking to bring someone in. CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn mentioned that LA has joined the race to land Jonathan Kuminga from Golden State.

“The Lakers were a surprising addition to the reported list of possible Kuminga teams, but it actually makes some sense when you think about it. The Lakers aren’t giving up real assets for anyone right now.”

“They’re running out the clock on the LeBron James era and waiting to rebuild their roster over the summer with their three tradable first-round picks and over $50 million in cap space,” read a part of Quinn’s report.

This came right after ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Shams Charania broke the news that Kuminga actually requested a trade from the Warriors on the very first day he was eligible to be moved.

At the end of the day, these are all just rumors and reports floating around. Nobody really knows what’s going to happen until it actually happens, and we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out when the deadline arrives.
