The Los Angeles Lakers (via the New York Knicks) made Cameron Carr the No. 24 pick of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday. Carr is expected to add depth to the team’s backcourt with his athleticism, hustle, and defense.
This early, the NBA community is already excited to hear his thoughts on guarding some of the league’s best players.

Cameron Carr Takes Aim at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Reputation for Drawing Fouls
Most scouts raved about Carr’s defensive upside after he led the Baylor Bears with 45 blocks, putting him in the top 10 of the Big 12 in that category.
PFSN’s scouting report on the ultra-athletic 6-foot-5 combo guard doubles down on that evaluation.
“Carr’s long arms and lateral quickness give him potential to become a versatile defender, able to match up with both guards and wings. He is disruptive in the passing lanes and projects as an above-average defender.”
When asked on Tuesday about who he would prefer to guard between Anthony Edwards and reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Carr did not hold back.
“Anthony Edwards. … Yeah, I ain’t doing with the flopping.”

The Lakers were bounced out of the Western Conference semifinals by the Oklahoma City Thunder in four games.
Luka Dončić’s absence was the biggest reason the Lakers failed to win a game, but the team’s supporters were just as frustrated with SGA’s alleged favorable calls from the referees.
The Lakers weren’t the only ones who had gripes about the Thunder and SGA’s flopping. The New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and San Antonio Spurs were among the teams that complained about the Thunder and SGA’s allegedly “unethical” basketball.
Over the past few seasons, the All-NBA guard has developed a reputation as a flopper. In many arenas, opposing fans often serenade him with “free-throw merchant” chants to mock his foul-baiting style.
SGA’s deliberate foul-hunting became such a hot topic in the playoffs that an X account called the “House of Lowlights” featured a short video of the superstar guard hitting the floor after contact.
The clip, which was made after Game 2 of the Thunder’s series against the Spurs, now has 22.9 million views.
After Game 2 of the titanic Thunder-Spurs series, Yahoo! Sports’ Tom Haberstroh reported that “SGA falls most often on non-whistle shots.” According to the NBA analyst, the two-time MVP “fell on 20 of his 187 field-goal attempts, a rate of 10.7%.”
Additionally, Haberstroh wrote that “SGA also has the most falls on whistled shots.”
The OKC franchise cornerstone went down on 19 of 37 attempts that ended with a foul, a staggering 51.4%. The second-placed James Harden only had 29.3% (12 of 41).
LA’s rookie has yet to play a second of NBA basketball, but he is already convinced that SGA’s flopping is real. Carr couldn’t resist taking a shot at this past season’s MVP even before he had faced him.
Carr’s bulletin material comments might bite him once the season starts.
With defensive ace Marcus Smart (player option) uncertain to return, the Lakers could throw him into deep waters and test him against the player he just trolled.
