Kevin Durant may join his fifth NBA team in the coming days, as his stint with the Phoenix Suns looks to be coming to an end. The two-time NBA champion moved to Arizona with high hopes of winning his third with Devin Booker, but fate had other plans. The Suns never really made a deep postseason run with the duo.
Reports say that a trade for Durant will most likely be done before the 2025 NBA Draft, which is just a week away. NBA insider Shams Charania has confirmed that the player is still interested in joining 3 teams, but they aren’t exactly the teams that are close to making a deal with the Suns.

Shams Charania Reveals 3 Teams Are Close to a Kevin Durant Trade
During a recent “Pat McAfee Show” appearance, Charania mentioned that the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves were close to agreeing on a trade.
“I had one team tell me today, it’s kind of a game of chicken at this point from the Rockets to the Heat, to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s literally one or two pieces away, either which way that can get a deal done. But at the end of the day, one of these teams has to meet that threshold to get something done,” Charania said.
“The Suns have a price threshold that they want met in a trade for Kevin Durant and I had one team tell me today it’s a game of chicken right now..

Charania also added that the negotiations could go into the NBA Draft, but predicts that the Suns do not wish for that to come true. In addition, the ESPN insider also admitted that there is a chance that it turns out to be a three or four-team trade to fulfill Durant’s trade wish.
It is also reported that Durant is still adamant on the Spurs, Rockets and Heat, and has no desire to join the Timberwolves. The reason has not been revealed, but it certainly leaves the him in a weird spot considering Minnesota is one of the teams that are reportedly close to making a deal.
It may be surprising to see all the buzz for Durant, considering his age and recent injury history. But he has proven that he’s worth the hype, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games this year, earning his 15th All-Star selection.
It would be interesting to see if one of those three teams can come to an agreement with the Suns before the trade deadline.
