When Karl-Anthony Towns signed with the New York Knicks, most fans were hopeful of a deep playoff run. And while Towns led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2025, the subsequent 2025-26 campaign hasn’t been shaping up well.
Naturally, the Knicks’ current position has kick-started multiple trade rumors. This includes a “frustrated” Towns who might be looking for a way off a sinking ship.

NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns Has Multiple Teams He Could Move to
With the NBA trade deadline on February 5, most fans are waiting for a blockbuster deal ahead of the 2026 playoffs.
In a recent Newsday report, Steve Popper broke down a few possibilities for Towns. He mentioned that the five-time All-Star has been “visibly frustrated” this season, and that the team has been equally frustrated with him. The fanbase — booing their squad at home — hasn’t helped.
According to Popper, the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets could be viable options. “Whispers around the league have begun to speculate on the possibility of the Knicks moving Towns. His name surfaced when the Bucks and Knicks discussed the chance of a deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo, but now league sources said that talks have involved other teams, including Memphis, Orlando, and Charlotte,” Popper wrote.
He pointed out that unless the Knicks trade for Milwaukee Bucks icon Giannis Antetokounmpo, it would probably be a downgrade for the Knicks.
“Towns is a five-time All-Star, and any of these deals outside of Antetokounmpo would likely mean a downgrade in talent. But with the influx of talent, the Knicks have lost something, two coaches now unable to appease the need for the ball and a style that hasn’t fit the roster,” Popper explained.
NBA Legend Paul Pierce Thinks Towns is Tired of the Knicks
Having said that, NBA legend Paul Pierce — during his appearance on the ‘KG Certified’ show — stated that he doesn’t think Towns is very happy in New York.
“He’s too talented and too good,” Pierce said. “I can see stuff. He looks so frustrated out there. He’s an All-Star talent, and I don’t think he looks happy… He doesn’t want to be there.”
Most fans agree with reports suggesting a trade, especially as the Knicks continue to lose. The team is currently on a four-game losing streak, unable to win against the already-struggling Dallas Mavericks.
Towns, in his second season with the Knicks, is currently averaging 21 points, 11.6 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 46.7% from the field.
