Viral Video Shows Karl-Anthony Towns Skipping Knicks’ Team Huddle Amid Recent Drama

A viral video of Karl-Anthony Towns skipping the Knicks' team huddle raises questions about his alignment with the team.

An unexpected scene unfolded when Karl-Anthony Towns sat out the team huddle after the New York Knicks’ 111-94 loss to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Tuesday.

Despite leading the team in scoring, the video of Towns skipping the huddle sparked speculation about the team’s chemistry as they prepare for another playoff run.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ Missing Team Huddle Goes Viral After Knicks Loss to Rockets

Having spent the majority of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he was second on the Timberwolves’ all-time scoring list, Towns was traded to the Knicks as part of a three-team trade in October of 2024.

Despite enjoying a decent run in New York so far, the 2025-26 season has not panned out too well for the six-time All-Star. Having played in 71 matches this season, Towns has looked far from his best.

In the 111-100 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, he recorded 15 points, 2 assists, and went 5-9 from the field. Against Houston, he was more stable offensively (22 points), leading his team in scoring, but the overall poor performance cost them the game.

Besides the demoralizing defeat against the Rockets, Towns also made headlines when he was seen sitting on the bench away from his teammates, who had gathered for a team huddle.

This comes amid his admission about his offensive duties for the team.

Ahead of the game against OKC, Towns had shared his take on the team’s approach and mentioned that he is still trying to understand the coaches’ system

“I’m still trying to figure out where I can impact our team and winning the most, and you know right now. I’m just utilizing my experience so I can do the best I can,” he told Zora Stephenson.

In his first year with the Knicks, Towns made history by becoming the first player in the franchise since Carmelo Anthony in 2014 to record 40 points, 10 rebounds, alongwith 65% shooting in a single game.

He continued to impress as a center, joining veterans like Anthony, Bernard King, and Jalen Brunson to record 40 points in back-to-back games.

While he contributed to his team’s seven-game winning streak earlier this month, Towns has been averaging an underwhelming 20.1 points and 2.8 assists this season.

Despite having clinched a spot in the playoffs thanks to the Philadelphia 76ers’ loss to the Miami Heat earlier, the Knicks will look to recover from their three-game slide as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday in an away matchup.
