Before he became a three-time All-Star, Julius Randle was just a determined kid from Dallas, and a lot of that drive came from the people around him growing up. While most fans know the on-court version of Randle, not everyone knows what went on behind the scenes.
He wasn’t raised in a traditional two-parent home. His mother, Carolyn Kyles, took on that responsibility alone and did everything she could to support him as his father, Matthew Randle, wasn’t really around.
Who Are Julius Randle’s Parents?
Kyles wasn’t just a mom — she was an athlete herself. She played college basketball at UT Arlington in the 1980s and posted solid numbers during her 1984-85 season: 176 points, 169 rebounds, and 17 assists across 27 games. She grew up in Newton, Texas, and eventually raised Randle in Dallas, where he first started chasing his basketball dreams.
Randle has said before how much his mother shaped who he is. She was the one driving him to games, pushing him to stay focused, and showing him what perseverance looks like up close.

Not much is publicly known about Randle’s dad, other than the fact that he wasn’t part of his life while he was growing up. Kyles raised Randle as a single parent, and that dynamic shaped a lot of who he became, on and off the court.
Randle isn’t an only child — he has a sister, Nastassia Caldwell, who still lives in Dallas. She studied accounting at Collin College, got a degree from East Texas A&M, and has held roles at several companies, including TrueCare24 and Pegasus Good Inc.
As of May 2025, she works at Goliath as an Accounts Receivable & Credit Specialist. She’s also a mom to three kids of her own.
Who Are Randle’s Wife and Kids?
Randle’s wife, Kendra, has been by his side since their University of Kentucky days. They met at her birthday party while she was studying fashion design. A few years later, they were engaged. In 2017, they tied the knot at The Resort at Pelican Hill.
Kendra eventually launched her own fashion line, Kalore, in 2020 — a brand she credits her grandparents for inspiring. She’s now the founder and CEO, building her business while raising three children with Julius.
Their first son, Kyden, was born in 2016. Jayce came in 2021. And their daughter, Romi Joelle, arrived in April 2025.
These days, the trio’s dad is putting up solid numbers for the Minnesota Timberwolves — 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists across 69 starts in the 2024-25 season. He’s now played over 700 games in the league, averaging 19.0 points and 9.1 boards over his career.
But long before the NBA stats, big contracts, or All-Star nods, it was just him and his family. His mother, his sister, and now Kendra and their kids — they’ve all been part of the journey.
