Knicks Fan Favorite Josh Hart Makes Hilarious Comment About This Season of ‘Love Island’

Josh Hart’s viral “Love Island” tweet and the New York Knicks’ hiring of Mike Brown highlight a summer of change and big expectations in New York.

Josh Hart is the kind of player who gives everything he has on the court, and his energy is contagious. From winning the 2016 NCAA title at Villanova to chasing every loose ball for the New York Knicks, Hart has become known as one of the NBA’s best rebounding guards.

Off the court, he’s just as quick to make fans laugh, showing a sharp sense of humor that’s winning over new audiences this summer.

Hart Roasts ‘Love Island’ and Connects With Fans

Hart, who stands 6’4”, averaged 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game during the 2024-25 season. He is as comfortable filling up the stat sheet as he is firing up the crowd at Madison Square Garden. Recently, though, Hart has turned his attention to pop culture, proving he can entertain fans with his wit as well as his hustle.

Hart posted a one-line roast on X that quickly went viral: “Everyone on Love Island can go home. No one wins this season.” The tweet racked up over 300,000 views within hours and drew a flood of fan comments.

Some fans teased Hart for watching a reality dating show. One X user commented under his post, “Grown man watching love island no wonder he’s terrible at basketball.” Another fan wrote, “Are you that bored in the offseason that you watching this show?”

While Hart’s social media presence has grown, basketball remains his main focus. He joined the Knicks in a four-team trade in February 2023. By August of that year, he signed a four-year, $81 million extension. The deal guarantees $58.5 million through 2027, with a team option for 2028. Hart is set to earn $18.1 million in the 2024-25 season.

Knicks Make Major Coaching Change After Playoff Exit

Less than a month after their playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks made a significant move by firing head coach Tom Thibodeau. On June 3, 2025, New York announced the dismissal, as reported by ESPN. Thibodeau’s five-year tenure included back-to-back 50-win seasons and the franchise’s first Conference Finals appearance in 25 years.

Almost a month later, on July 2, multiple outlets reported that the Knicks would hire two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown to replace Thibodeau. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Brown was the team’s top choice after an extensive search.

Earlier in the process, the Knicks were denied permission to interview several coaches, including Billy Donovan of the Bulls, Chris Finch of the Timberwolves, Ime Udoka of the Rockets, Quin Snyder of the Hawks, and Jason Kidd of the Mavericks. The coaching search drew criticism from some, with one NBA agent calling the firing of Thibodeau a “knee-jerk” move without a plan in place.”

As the Knicks adjust to front-office and coaching changes, Hart’s social media moments offer fans a lighthearted break from the constant stream of news. With the draft, free agency, and coaching moves behind them, Knicks fans are hoping these changes will help the team make another deep playoff run.
