The 2025 NBA Draft is just weeks away, and prospects are waiting anxiously to hear their names called. Among them is Jase Richardson, a projected mid–first-round pick. The Michigan State guard is an efficient shooter, hitting 49.3 percent from the field, and he’s on the radar for the Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic and other teams looking to boost their backcourt.
Basketball runs in the family for Richardson. He is the son of a former two-time NBA Slam Dunk Champion and a former University of Colorado athlete who continues to coach today. Let’s take a closer look at his dad, mom and siblings.

Meet Jase Richardson’s Parents, Jason and Jackie Paul Richardson
Richardson was born on Oct. 16, 2005, to parents Jason and Jackie Paul in Berkeley, California. His dad, Jason, was drafted fifth overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2001 NBA Draft.
Jason was known for his scoring and explosive athleticism, especially at the rim. He averaged 17.1 points per game during his NBA career and shot 37.0 percent from three, but most fans remember him for his explosive dunking.

He won back-to-back Slam Dunk Contests in 2002 and 2003, delivering some of the most memorable dunks in contest history. Now, with his son heading to the NBA, people are wondering if Richardson inherited his dad’s bounce. That talent may run in the family, and not just from dad.
Richardson’s mom, Jackie Paul-Richardson, also has a basketball background. She coached him from age 4 through high school and played a key role in his development, something the potential first-rounder appreciates.

“The majority of my game came from both my parents… being a point guard through my mother and then about the game and how to get there from my father,” Richardson said. “You have to see the whole floor as a point guard, offensively and defensively, so with (my mother) doing that, I’m able to help find plays for myself and for my teammates.”
How Many Siblings Does Jase Richardson Have?
Richardson has two siblings: Jaxson and Jaela. Jaxson is a junior at Columbus High School in Miami and is already drawing interest, with scholarship offers from several schools including Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Ole Miss.
Jaela is the eldest child of Jason. She plays forward at Cherry Creek and is a strong defender. She wrapped up her career at MSU Denver ranked third in school history in blocks per game with 1.4. She has made a name for herself as a tough presence in the paint.
With a family full of hoops experience, Richardson has plenty of support as he gets ready to begin his own NBA journey. All eyes are now on where he’ll land on draft night.
