Grizzlies Star Jaren Jackson Jr. Set To Brutally Miss Out on Staggering $200M After Shocking All-NBA Team Snub

Jaren Jackson Jr. is set to miss out on $200M for not reaching several statistical milestones this past season.

The Memphis Grizzlies had a quick exit from the playoffs, losing in four games to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Over the years, the Grizzlies have seen their share of success, but recently their struggles have become clear.

After firing head coach Taylor Jenkins during the season, the team never fully bounced back. Still, one bright spot was the rise of big man Jaren Jackson Jr.

The former Michigan State Spartan has become one of the best players on the team. His ability to score, shoot, and defend makes him a key piece for the Grizzlies moving forward.

How Did Jaren Jackson Jr. Miss Out on $200M?

Jackson Jr. has been one of the league’s best defenders and was the most consistent player for the Grizzlies this season. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 48.8% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.

With the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement, players can qualify for a supermax contract if they meet certain criteria. Jackson Jr. had the chance to secure a $350 million supermax if he was named to an All-NBA team. Instead, he’ll be able to earn just under $150 million under league rules.

Unfortunately for Jackson, he missed out by just one vote. That one vote was enough to cost him $200 million under the league’s rules.

Missing out on $200 million could be the spark Jackson needs to push even harder next season. Even without the supermax, Jackson should be a top contender for an All-NBA spot and another All-Defensive team honor.

Can The Grizzlies Turn Things Around?

The Grizzlies will be counting on Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. to help them get back to the playoffs next season. They’re a strong duo, but both have areas to work on. Jackson isn’t the best rebounder despite his size, and Morant has to stay healthy to be at his best.

If they can find a way to stay healthy and sharpen their games, the Grizzlies have a real chance to move back up the Western Conference standings. While finishing eighth in the West this year was a letdown, it’s worth remembering they spent months in the top four before injuries slowed them down.

The big question now is whether Morant and Jackson can lead the Grizzlies back to the top of the West. Time will tell, but one thing is for sure — the window for this team to compete is still open. Next season could be a make-or-break year as they look to turn things around.
