Calls Mount for Magic to Fire Jamahl Mosley After Franchise-Worst 52-Point Loss to Raptors: ‘Do What Needs to Be Done’

Orlando Magic fans and analysts are calling for head coach Jamahl Mosley to be fired following a franchise-worst 52-point loss.

The Orlando Magic just suffered one of their worst nights in franchise history on Sunday, suffering a 52-point loss. Following the extremely disheartening loss, head coach Jamahl Mosley found himself under fire as calls for his removal intensified.

Magic Fans Call for Jamahl Mosley to Be Fired After Historic Loss

The Magic looked ready to get back to winning after snapping a six-game losing streak with a win on Thursday against the Sacramento Kings. In Sunday’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors, though, cold water was poured on their hopes of winning two straight as they ended up losing 139-87.

Not only did they add another to the loss column, but the Raptors also beat them 139-87. This 52-point loss is now the biggest deficit in franchise history, surpassing the 47-point margin of defeat they suffered against the Bulls in 2017.

Many have grown unhappy with the Magic’s performance, and this latest loss has placed Mosley squarely in the crosshairs of those unhappy people.

“Biggest loss in franchise history. Do what needs to be done,” the X account for “The Sixth Man Show” tweeted.

Magic fan page, Orlando Magic Guru, posted, “12 turnovers in a quarter. No plan. No offense. No roles. Just pick up basketball.”

The post also featured a photoshopped image of Mosley wearing the uniform of a well-known retail store.

J.D. Silva, host of “The Uncontested Podcast,” said, “No one has ever been more fired than Jamahl Mosley.”

“Desmond Bane refused to comment on the preparedness of the team coming into tonight’s blow out loss, not a great sign for the coach,” host and analyst Brandon Kravitz said.

Mosley was given a chance to explain his side of things in the postgame press conference, and this is what he had to say: “I’ve got to do a better job of preparing them for what they were going to see tonight.”

After stating that the team was basically unprepared for a physical matchup, the Magic head coach took accountability for the loss.

The Magic are already play-in bound, and only a few likely truly believe that they are destined for a deep postseason run this year. The hopes and dreams of those few were dashed further by tonight’s loss, especially considering the Raptors had significant injuries.

Brandon Ingram, who leads Toronto in scoring with 21.4 points per game, was ruled out due to a heel injury. Alongside him on the sidelined players list is point guard Immanuel Quickley, who is out due to a foot injury.
