Madison Square Garden has witnessed some grand events this summer, with the Jalen Brunson-led New York Knicks winning their first NBA championship in 53 years.
The famed arena also hosted Taylor Swift’s wedding to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce earlier this month, and Brunson has now clarified whether the Knicks’ starters were invited to the star-studded ceremony as was rumored.

Reports claimed that the Knicks’ starting five was invited to the Swift-Kelce wedding at Madison Square Garden. However, Brunson dismissed the rumor during an interview with Variety.
“I found out the same way the rest of the world did. So, I don’t know if it was true or not, but I did not attend,” Brunson said.
Brunson was also asked whether the Knicks’ memorable run in the NBA playoffs may have influenced Swift and Kelce’s decision to choose Madison Square Garden as their wedding venue.
“Maybe. Maybe. But knowing how weddings work, I feel like that may have been predetermined a while back, but especially knowing how tightly scheduled the Garden is, I don’t know. But it was definitely, probably, clearly a memorable night for them,” he added.
The Knicks superstar was also quick to defend Swift, who faced criticism for rooting on the Knicks when she attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Many claimed that Swift wasn’t a real Knicks fan, as she had also attended the Eastern Conference Finals alongside her Cleveland Cavaliers-fan fiancé, Kelce, and seemed to be cheering for the Cavs rather than New York.
Brunson pointed out that Swift has been to Knicks games before, and made it clear that he has no problem with her fandom.
“It’s really cool having her there. I feel like her being in Cleveland for courtside one game, obviously, I think Travis and the Kelces are from Ohio, so I get that. And she’s been at the Knicks’ games before. So, I mean, whoever comes, as long as you’re cheering us on, we appreciate it. And I think that was probably a really good game to come to as well,” Brunson added.
Swift was courtside as the Knicks pulled off one of the most incredible comebacks in NBA Finals history, rallying from 29 points down to defeat the San Antonio Spurs. They sealed the championship in Game 5, with Brunson crowned Finals MVP. Three weeks later, Swift was back at MSG for one of the most momentous days of her life.
