What Is Dylan Harper’s Injury Status?

Dylan Harper limped off the court in the third quarter of Game 2 on Wednesday. He tried to return but failed to. Initial reports pointed to a hamstring injury, which would have been a serious blow to the Spurs’ title hopes. But after Harper underwent an MRI on Thursday in San Antonio, the results came back with positive news.

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, Harper is cleared to play in tonight’s Game 3 clash against OKC.

Spurs fans must have breathed a sigh of relief when those results came back. A hamstring strain in the postseason can sideline a player for weeks. An adductor injury, while still painful and limiting, could be more manageable.

The timing could not be more critical. Harper has been one of the best postseason performers this year. So far this playoffs, 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 13 games. His absence would surely be noticeable.

The Spurs will also welcome back De’Aaron Fox, who has missed both games in this series with a right ankle sprain. OKC is also dealing with its own concerns on the other end.

Game 3 tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET at Frost Bank Center. Now that both Harper and Fox are set to return, the Spurs have a great advantage while Williams watches from the sidelines. Fox is the Spurs’ primary ball-handler, and the Spurs will be able to run their offense better through him.

Wembanyama is already performing at a high level, and Fox’s elite playmaking and vision will only make the French superstar perform better. It will be interesting to see if OKC has the answers to the Spurs’ questions tonight, as fans can surely expect another classic playoff clash.
