‘HOW DO YOU STOP THIS?’ — NBA World Reacts to Victor Wembanyama’s ‘UNREAL’ Putback Dunk in Spurs-Thunder Game 2

Victor Wembanyama's vicious putback dunk in Game 2 against the Thunder leaves the NBA World stunned.

Victor Wembanyama’s dunks have been the talk of the Western Conference finals. The San Antonio Spurs center delivered another eye-popping throwdown in Wednesday’s Game 2 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, showcasing his explosive athleticism.

While the highlight dunk made the NBA world take notice, the Spurs were ultimately on the losing end, as the Thunder bounced back with a 122-113 home win to tie the series 1-1. Nevertheless, the French phenom’s putback slam continued to generate buzz on social media.

Victor Wembanyama’s Thunderous Dunk Leaves NBA World Stunned

Wembanyama’s sizzling putback dunk occurred in the third quarter. With 7:07 left, the Spurs superstar barreled past Jaylin Williams and missed a driving layup off the board. That didn’t deter the 7-foot-4 big man, though, as he sprang back up, grabbed his own rebound, and slammed the ball in for a vicious finish, leaving the NBA world in awe.

Hoop Central perhaps had the most hyped comment on Wembanyama’s dunk, writing, “VICTOR WEMBANYAMA IS UNREAL HOW DO YOU STOP THIS?!?”

YouTuber Six Rings of Steel added, “Like, what am I even watching?” Seconding this was Hater Report, which exclaimed, “Wemby really an alien for real. WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO?”

Content creator Hymn Duncan posted, “WEMBY IS NOT REAL, BRO.” Meanwhile, ESPN’s Tim Bontemps had a more astute observation, noting, “That’s now three times in this game Victor Wembanyama has shot, missed, grabbed his own rebound, and scored all in the same movement.”

Los Angeles Lakers supporters were also happy with Wembanyama, with one fan page making that abundantly clear. “WEMBY IS COOKING OKC,” LakeShowYo erupted.

Wembanyama’s latest dunk comes after his highlight finish over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in Game 1. Wembanyama managed to get his hands on a mid-lane lob and moved to his left, throwing it down between the reigning back-to-back MVP and Chet Holmgren.

On the Game 2 front, Wembanyama finished with 21 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks. Stephon Castle added 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Devin Vassell chipped in 22 points.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with a game-high 30 points, along with 4 rebounds and 9 assists. However, much of OKC’s production came from its bench, with Alex Caruso (17 points), Jared McCain (12 points), Cason Wallace (12 points), and Ajay Mitchell (10 points) contributing.

The tightly contested series next shifts to the Frost Bank Center for Friday’s pivotal Game 3 clash in San Antonio.
